Kayak Diving and Spearfishing / Kayak and speargun recommendations?
« on: February 20, 2022, 12:40:06 PM »
Hello Spearos-

I’m just beginning my spearfishing obsession.  I’m starting with an FII L1 class with Daniel Gillen from Red Triangle.

I am looking for recommendations on both a kayak and a gun.  If possible, it would be great to get a tandem that I could also use solo for spearing trips.  I’m looking at a Tarpon 135T or Malibu 2XL Angler.

On the gun side, I’m looking at something that would be good for Point Conception up to Fort Bragg.  I do like the idea of a wood gun, but am open to suggestions.  If it makes sense, I am not opposed to two guns.

Thanks and I hope to get out there with some of you.

Introductions / Noob spearo from Sactown

Hello from Wes in Sacramento.  I'm not sure I can even call myself a spearo yet, but I am stoked to meet some folks to spear and line fish with.  I have some experience fly fishing, but want to get out into the salt.  Can't wait to meet y'all!

Gearing Up and Rigging Up / Winter Clothing Setup for Lakes and Inshore
« on: November 13, 2018, 02:29:26 PM »
I tried searching the forums, but didn’t come up with anything.  I’m new to kayak fishing and looking at options for clothing during the winter in NorCal.  I’ve done some steelhead fishing and have waders and a rain jacket (and insulation)

Does that sound like a reasonable setup for the kayak or unsafe due to waders taking on water?

Thanks for the help and I can’t wait to get out there

Hey Y’all!

Wes from Sacramento.  I’m don’t currently have a boat, but am looking at something like the Jackson Big Tuna to take the family out and fish from.

Thanks in advance!

Introductions / Hello from Sacramento

Hey Everyone!

My name is Wes and I currently live in Sacramento.  I've been wading in the American for a few years and think a floating vessel would be a good alternative.  I'm excited to learn more about kayaks and maybe hit the Delta at some point.

Thanks
