Download surfline app free version. "Poor" surfing conditions as designated by the app tend to be good/easier launching conditions.

Thanks for including.
I definitely will participate as a result.
And I definitely will be of no threat to any hardcore competitors.

In case anyone else is thinking of registering there motorized yak:
I did mine at santa rosa DMV. It wasn't too bad. You cannot get an appt. online for a watercraft so I just got one for a vehicle and they didn't second guess it. Bring all forms already mentioned. Costed $80 +$17 for mussel sticker. You have to buy stickers to put the CF number on your boat, you can buy cool looking ones cheaply online or go to hardware store (there are certain regs about spacing of letters and stickers so just be mindful of that). The clerk hadn't done a kayak before but asked her supervisor and it worked out. I think using the term "watercraft" is helpful for them to put in to context. I was there first thing in the morning so I think that helped. The clerked looked at me like I was a piece of meat and by my estimate she was a few weeks from retirement so that might have helped also.  :smt044

Yep, that is my understanding. The "Nucanoe Unlimited Owners Group" on facebook is solid for intel on these matters.

General Fishing Tips / Re: Preserved baits?

I cannot vouch for their efficacy with regular fishing, but I threw some sardines of that brand in a crab hoop, and the crabs were tickled.

One thing I haven't seen mentioned is for around 1500 you can get a GPS enabled trolling motor that will spotlock you in place while fishing in currents, no anchor needed.
The kayak moving around too much was my biggest struggle when I started kayak fishing (and I come from a pretty strong paddling background).
In my case, removing some of the kayakness has been helpful in having more fun while fishing.

Hey, I am somewhat new to kayak fishing and AOTY looks like fun. Would love to be able to participate with my electric trolling motor.

Welcome, CJ.

I'm guessing that's a stock photo of a garage, as no real garage can be that clean.

lol, let's just say I took it from the correct angle. The other side is a mess.

Introductions / Greetings

Hello,  :smt006

Moved to the area in '19 from North Carolina by way of Ohio. Live near Sebastopol, 15 minutes from Riverfront Regional Park and 30 from Bodega Bay. Used to race kayaks/canoes but am somewhat new to kayak fishing. On my 3rd or 4th season of crabbing, I hope to continue with the bass/catfish/trout fishing I started last summer, and I hope to add Salmon/Rockfish/Halibut this year when I get brave enough to venture inshore.
