Kayaks / Re: Used Cobra FishNDive advice
« on: September 15, 2009, 12:15:56 AM »
All very good advice.  thx much.  I hope to have kayak in tow shortly, and what I've learned on this site has truly been helpful.  If Steve is willing to throw in the fish blood AND answer 249 questions I have about rigging the yak and fishing tactics, we may have a deal...   :smt001

Kayaks / Used Cobra FishNDive advice
« on: September 14, 2009, 02:28:13 PM »
I am a newbie looking to purchase a Prowler 13 or Cobra Fish N Dive.  The link below is for a used Cobra with high back seat and paddle for $800 on Craigslist.  I've seen some in the LA area for cheaper (600-700), and I realize that supply is harder to come by here (and maybe increased demand).  Not even sure if it's appropriate to post such requests for advice here...
But can anyone tell me what is considered a "fair price" for such an outfit? (used Cobra FND, high back seat and paddle).  The paddle new would cost $70.

If you have any other related advice, would appreciate it.  I'd like to get my kayak and gear asap and get out on the water.  I will admit that I have not rented any kayaks to test it out, and the only kayak I've paddled on was a sit-in kayak for a kayak paddling class.

thx for the advice.  This site has been extremely valuable, and it's saved me time and money- and I haven't even fished yet!  Now i need to get out there and get in my fishing hours.  thx again.

Gearing Up and Rigging Up / Rod Reel recommendation needed
« on: September 11, 2009, 09:02:08 PM »
I am a newbie.  Want to take up fishing again, and have taken a kayaking class.  I've only fished from pier/surf in the past and want to purchase a rod/reel "basic setup" that won't cost more than $150.  As the yak + essentials is going to cost approx. $2k+, with accessories over the next year, I'd like to keep the costs down to start with.  I'm interested in fishing for rockfish, hali and stripers (all I can think of for now).  All recommendations much appreciated.  thx in advance.
