Introductions / Re: New from Oakland

Whoo hoo Oakland.......

Welcome Matt.

We are fortunate to have great access to many good fishing spots and typically can catch the wind ride home to our local launches!

Heck yeah!

I also was out there, spent about five hours for a few scratched baits. Was trolling and drifting and drifting and trolling anchovies in the fleet, hooked nothing, was still a beautiful day.

Congratulations on the nice fish!

Stealth / Re: Backrest for Stealth
« on: March 26, 2021, 07:35:12 PM »
Any of you stealth rockstars utilizing a back support system for paddling or is it better to learn strong posture and just own it on the design, 6-7 hours on the water?  Paddling I could imagine being upright and expected.  Iím trying to imagine drifting or mooching without a little back leaning option.  Why do I even care you ask, well now, stay tuned.... :smt006

Backrest for sure. I use the stealth full seat, very comfortable all day. I think fishkrsft used a different seat that works real good.
Thank you, I noticed  a kinda half seat looking thing on their page but did not see the full seat.  Is it a wet ride or do you sponge out the seatwell? :smt006
Iím not sure I follow what you mean with the seat, mines a full seat here, with a bottom and back. Itís not a high back but on a kayak like this I personally wouldnít want that.
The only pic I can find that kind of shows it, there is a bottom half under those fish.

It is a wet but ride as no drains, but I donít notice in dry suit.

A little late response but haven't been kayaking or on the forum for a bit. Here's a few more pictures of the full Stealth seat, It works great and I store the weights I plan to use for the day in the back pocket. Haven't tried just the back rest and definitely couldn't do the no seat thing on an Evolution.

Yeah shits out there, I remember fishing Fitzgerald before it was closed, really stinky runoff near the launch.

Seems like Piller Point, Bodega and Linda Mar always top the list of most pollution...... mostly organic.

Safety First / Re: Why not to use mono from kayak
« on: June 19, 2020, 08:41:50 PM »
I use 30 or 40# braid with a 30# topshot or 15 to 20# mono. Use the jiggle to try and free up the junk, typically get home with almost all my gear.

Nice fish and report looking forward to watching the video later.

I guess pushing though the first day and then still  being willing to go out the second really is key, I'm so tired after one day of trolling around so never get out for the second day.

Congratulations Matt

I think this is a crappy thread!

No pictures of fish...... really nothing good here.

Ha!  Right!?  It's like trying to get news by watching TMZ...entertaining perhaps, but nothing good.

Sonoma Coast is open for business!  Let the brotherhood wash over us all again...

yay

Now we're talking.

Very strange, they are typically reddish
brown or blue /green never seen a white one. They also don't have super large teeth.....

Anyone know what type/kind of fish this is? Caught him/her poke pole fishing near Capitola.

Was super mean, snapping is super large sharp teeth at me and making grunting noises. It was about 16" long.

Released back into the hole in which it came from.

Thank you.

Looks like an albino Cabazon, was it really as white as it appears in the picture?

Another question for the AI/TI folks - does it have to be registered in CA? Or, do most register it?

A google query on the topic launched me into a whirlwind of conflicting information, and most threads were a few years back. So, does it have to be registered if you plan to use the sail? Do beach/park rangers cite AIs/TIs for no CF numbers? What's the general consensus on registration?

Sort of seems like a bummer if that's the case.

Needs to be registered same as having a moter, on the bright side you can add a moter.

I think you should get a Revo 13 or an Adventure/Revo 16 but I have no Hobie experience.

What about a real    :yak :smt064 :smt064 paddle kayak many would be better than a pedal kayak for the launch (and landing!!!) at Linda Mar?

Things get really heavy at the end of the day.

Places to Launch and Camp / Re: Paradise cove launches?
« on: May 25, 2020, 01:26:10 PM »
Some of my greatest lessons have been on that body of water...good and bad...

A man has got to know his limitations...Dirty Harry... :smt006

Or also appropriate to quote the Dirty Harry film that climaxed in the old quarry currently called Larkspur...

"Do you feel lucky Punk....well do you?" :smt001 :smt006

Anyway Quintin to the cove is totally doable for mid to mid/advanced kayakers if the conditions are correct but when I've launched at Paradise Park I often fish to the Cays so it's all good water.

Was just trying to figure if I could make a cart out of one of those kid trailers, could probably make it to Emeryville!

But seriously not going to Marin or making a cart.
