General Talk / Hobie Bungie/Shock cord Hook Resuable?
« on: July 25, 2023, 06:11:21 PM »
Looking to replace tankwell bungie/shock cord on my hobie.  Does anyone know if the shock cord hook is reusable? Or is it better to buy new.

Gearing Up and Rigging Up / PLB Alternative - IPHONE 14
« on: August 30, 2022, 12:58:54 PM »
iPhone 14 is rumored to have satelite capability. May be an alternative for PLBs. Take that with a grain of salt as it looks like there are hurdles to still overcome.....

Plan to go on the water on or after April 6th? Better have a compass or ensure your GPS will still work....https://www.zdnet.com/article/some-gps-receivers-may-malfunction-on-or-after-april-6/

Gearing Up and Rigging Up / Kokatat Supernova Angler Suit in Summer
« on: February 13, 2016, 11:23:27 AM »
Was looking for a farmer John setup, but it seems like many travelled the wetsuit to drysuit route and wished you had gone to drysuit directly. Plus it seems like wetsuit fit might be an issue for me.

So I'm thinking about biting the bullet and buying the Supernova Angler Suit. This will be my winter/summer setup.

I don't expect this to be comfty in summer, but will it bearable? Any owners use this suit in summer? I'd appreciate any insights.

Thanks

Introductions / Hello from Sacramento
« on: January 22, 2016, 10:30:34 PM »
New to kayak fishing, but been fishing since a kid. On a vacation trip to SoCal last year on a party boat trip, saw a bunch of kayak fisherman (one landed a nice yellowtail). On a stopover at Cambria, I saw another bunch (likely one of you guys  :smt001). Wow, kayak fishing in the salt. I was hooked  :smt003

Few months later, after some demos and rentals and a lot of research, I was the owner of a new 2015 Hobie Outback. Been learning a lot about kayak fishing since then (a lot from the NCKA forums). Have a few trips under my belt out on the Sac river, but not on the salt yet. I'm a long ways to getting there. With the knowledge and help of the wonderful, wise bunch here, I hope to one day make it to the salt.
