Kayak Fly Fishing / Fly Reel Recommendation
« on: July 14, 2018, 05:06:44 PM »
Can anyone recommend a $100 or less fly reel for a 5 weight quality rod for stream trout. Getting back into fly fishing after I was gifted a sweet 5 wt 9 foot Winston. Just want something middle quality but the choices are mind boggling. I fish mostly small overgrown streams. Thanks for any suggestions.

Happy birthday man. Hope you have a spectacular day.

Sounds like he should change his name to Monogamist Al.

I said new girlfriend. Wives are a different thing. Al's always recruiting.  :3some:

Looking forward to fishing with you too Darius. Polygamist Al won't be coming back ever. He got a new girlfriend and now he doesn't fish, camp, hunt or hike any more. All he does is old man stuff like golf and farmers markets. He has been effectively neutered.  :smt011

Is there a limit to the number of anglers on one team?

Definitely yes on the uni Jim. Thanks man.

In the spirit of the new tournament regulations, there will NOT be a rockfish side bet this year.

However, pending Eric's approval, I will have a big fish jackpot for Friday and Saturday. I will take $10 bets  if there is any interest. Each day there will be a big fish jackpot like on a charter boat. Winner must have the longest fish each day. All fish species (including sharks) are legal. I will not be going camp to camp to collect money. You have to bring the bet to me at site #37 (on the way to the restroom). I don't expect a huge jackpot. I don't want to measure a bunch of fish, so it will be on the honor system. Just have somebody else in the bet witness your measurement. Thanks everyone. Good luck.
