Places to Launch and Camp / Shaver Lake ~ Dinky Creek ~ Non yak
« on: August 08, 2016, 01:40:36 PM »
Heading up there this week.  Staying in a home in Shaver Lake but we also will be visiting with a group staying at Dinky Creek.  Yak hopper gave me the low down on the fishing (if there is water left) at Dinky Creek.

What about around Shaver?  Hikes,  shore fishing?  Dial me in so we have something awesome to do with two five year old twin girls.

Thanks in advance.

For Sale / Disney Tickets SOLD
« on: October 01, 2014, 07:29:50 AM »
Two day passes for two people 10+
Two day passes  for two kids people 3-9

They are park hopper passes.

On the PDF it says "expires 13 days after 10/14/14"

Does this mean they are valid now but not after 10/27/14?  I'm not sure.

We moved our trip to 11/9 so the tickets can't be used.

Transaction will take a little trust as the PDF is only valid to the holder and the purchaser has to believe me that the PDFs are valid and have not been used.

$200 to start?

General Talk / Lightening in a bottle, 2014
« on: May 26, 2014, 10:54:21 PM »
A cross between burning man and the Cochella music festival in my back yard.  Undercover drug stings in 2013 prompted the organizers to move it.  I followed it all weekend and was entertained by the information coming out of it.  15,000 people in the dirt at a dry lake 3 miles from my house.  The local store said his goal this month was to gross 25k,  he grossed 30k in 3 days.  This morning he was out of beer and Gatorade.

http://lightninginabottle.org

Lots of youtube videos that show what it is all about.   Think a very, very, very hippy version of GS with Acid, Pot, and X.

So here is the funny stuff,  at least for me.

Link shows my buddy,  a park ranger in the foreground:  In Salinas recently,  they have been shooting and killing guys for doing the same thing,  not very funny.http://www.laweekly.com/westcoastsound/2014/05/23/woman-tasered-at-lightning-in-a-bottle

Same Ranger is posting on his FB the very funny radio conversations they had during the four day event.  I will copy and paste them:

Things I never thought I would here let alone say on the radio. I am out with 34&32 between the Woogie and Monkey business.

Another one was I need predator dispatched to the bamboo stage for a green dot.

Respond to the temple to meet wolverine and a 4' penguin regarding his girl friend releasing her negative energy in public

Respond to a report of a land shark spotted stage right at bamboooooo

Boots and pants, boots and pants, boots and pants, boots and pants, boot and pants...

In pursuit of a naked male north bound new pleyto rd just north of the ranger station. Suspect is attempting.... Never mind role fire code 3

Please just drop the knife or we are both really going to regret me coming to work today,

Water boys reports low pressure near the boogie!

I will be out with Andre the giant holding his keg of beer

Wolverine we have a swimmer stage right bamboo stage near the cold drink stand. Send AMR.

30 & 34 will be out on foot at the grand burlesque...

Beware of a rock that gives you driving directions!

Be advised I am behind a kabota with four subjects sitting on a male headed for the sanctuary

Casey I have checked the area and I am sure there are no knives in the area, it is safe to exit the Tahoe.

T/C at the temple kubota versus rickshaw. Non injury code 4 10-8.

I'm at monkey business and Kenya not monkey business and India. 10-22 I have wolverine 10-97. Show me 10-8.

No dude in the traffic vest I do NOT have a wristband

I will be out at lightning doing a wardrobe check.... Contact 10 and advise him we have a policy violation in progress.

I know you want a fill unit but we have an artist at the gate that needs blueberries. So please 10-23.

Looking at the Twitter feed can be funny too:   #libfestival

Here is my favorite tweet:  idk which was worse, the tornado yesterday or the fucking TARANTULA we just saw at our camp site. #libfestival #notsomagicmoments

Tornado,  o ya,  you mean dust devil and the spiders are everywhere out here and won't hurt you.  I guess they don't have too many of those in LA

It's times like these that I really miss the fire service.  We would have been running all of these calls.  I have a lot of good memories scraping up bikers at Wildflower and the Aids ride.  Road rash can suck.

Who wants to go next year?

General Talk / Was it rigged? Non-yak
« on: February 05, 2014, 10:23:02 PM »
Has anyone watched this yet?  I'm not a conspiracy theorist in any way.  I don't believe that was any kind of conspiracy.

I do think the video does a great job of showing how important and difficult it is to be a ref.  Sometimes the odds fall in your favor,  sometimes they don't.   This time,  they did not.

I watched the entire thing and it just made me sad.

Did I handle this in a way not to whine too much FM1? :smt002

Where is the beating the dead horse emote?  I can't seem to find it. :smt044

For Sale / Sabrent USB to HDMI converter now PIF
« on: January 16, 2014, 02:05:41 PM »
I have four of these.   I need to sell all of them.   You can us ether to establish a second monitor on you computer system.   I decided to go to Apple TV instead as it was wireless.  They all work great and were used very little,  maybe one or two of them were not used at all.   I have the box for one,  but not for all four.

I bought them form Amazon,  here is the link.   http://www.amazon.com/Sabrent-1920x1080-1600x1200-DisplayLink-USB-HDMI/dp/B005UKG4KU   New they are $50.00

How about $21.00 each including shipping, or all 4 for $60.00 including shipping?

How about a $10.00 donation to HOW or PIF.  Honor system applies here.  That is $10 shipped for the donation!  Sonny,  this deal now applies to you and it should be there today or tomorrow.

It comes with another adapter that converts to VGA,  but I only have one of the adapters.  One will come in the box with instructions and disc,  the rest are ala carte.   You can download the drivers online at http://www.sabrent.com/downloads.php

It is the USB-2011 model.

Won't be able to ship anything out until Monday.  PayPal preferred.

Pay It Forward / Helping those in need
« on: November 29, 2013, 02:20:03 PM »
Pasted from my Aunt's email

Dear Family &  Friends;

It is that time of year again, when we give thanks and give to others in need. I know that so many requests come in at this time of year, but we ask you to consider giving a small gift to the "kids" at the Porterville Developmental Center - some of whom have no family and no gifts to open at Christmas-time. Since our daughter Jennifer has been at Porterville we have been asking you to gift these kids at Christmas and you have been SO very generous- thank you!

Attached you will find a wish list for the "kids" on unit 5 where our daughter is placed. If you'd like to choose a gift or two for one of the kids (there are 23 kids) then please just let me know & shop away! You can deliver your new, unwrapped gift to our office at 591 12th St Paso Robles by Dec 20th.  If you don't have time to shop but you'd like to make a donation & if you'd like to write a check or make a monetary donation - we do have shopping elves :) We can come to you to pick up your gift or donation - just give us a call or drop off your donation at our office.

There are a few restrictions when buying gifts; please nothing glass; no acohol, no chewing gum and no violent DVD's & nothing R rated.

Thank you for all you do- may God abundantly bless you all!

We give a little money every year to my aunt and uncle and in turn they do some shopping to ensure that the mentally ill receive presents.  If you want to help out,  that would be great.  If you paypal my wife at laura@morganconsulting.biz we will make sure my aunt and uncle receive the funds.   Sending a check would be nice too.

MoChristmas for all.

Fishing Tournaments and Events / Smith/Chetco Road Trip February 2014
« on: November 06, 2013, 02:52:49 PM »
I need to float the Smith and Chetco again for Steelhead.  Who wants to join me?  Rooms at the Ship Ashore Best Western are not too terribly expensive especially as they may allow up to four guys in one room.  I have attached room and camping pricing. I have only ever done this with local guides and we had a great time.  I think it might be fun to get a group together and make the road trip up the for two nights and two days fishing.   There are even guys that will move our cars from the launch location down to the landing location.  You may want to think about an anchor set up similar to one one in the picture to anchor in above a hole that could be holding fish.   I am no steelhead expert (caught only one)  Does anyone want to volunteer to be tour guide and I can play trip coordinator?  Another option is to pay a local guide with a drift boat to "mothership" us a bit and get us on the good holes.  Feedback appreciated,   company wanted.  Mid week is best for me but I could do a weekend as well.

General Talk / Help in Excel
« on: September 28, 2013, 03:26:43 PM »
Help needed in Excel. I have a nutrient management plan I am working on. I have 90% of it done. I figured out how to use data validation to create drop down boxes with a crop name, now I need to add a numerical value associated with each crop name, populate that in a cell and add it to others of the same kind at the bottom of the sheet. Any help is appreciated. I have you tubed it but I am still lost. There is only one numerical value for each crop.

And just for your information,  the data entered by growers during this self check up will aid in ground and surface water quality in the Salinas basin.  Here is the link for the document in my public drop box.  Can't upload Excel files.

For Sale / Refurbish a boat in your spare time?
« on: August 20, 2013, 06:55:54 PM »
http://sfbay.craigslist.org/scz/boa/4007924213.html

My wife thinks this little boat would be an awesome addition to a sand lot play yard we are planning for the girls.  I would love to find somebody to go get it,  sand it and paint it up so the old fiberglass will not give the girls splinters.   She said I could have the boat when the girls (not me) grow up.    Post or PM.

For Sale / Looking for: Website designer/master
« on: May 26, 2013, 11:07:09 AM »
There have been many threads covering this in the past.  I want to give the newer members a shot too.

Looking for a 6 page website design. Fairy standard design to start.   We will want it to evolve into database driven website at some point where our customers can set up their orders, print labels, retrieve results etc.

Game plan is to offer consumers soil testing and analysis.  We offer this service on a different scale to growers now.
