Last few times I've been out in my X-Factor I was concerned about a few gallons of water getting inside the hull.  This past weekend however at MBK it was a LOT more water than my previous trips, around 15gal or so.  After the first couple times I tried filling it with water and didn't see any leaks below the water line.  Figured it was my front hatch taking on water from waves crashing over the bow.  But this past weekend, there weren't any.  I did however keep dragging my bait bucket out of the water into my lap to grab bait.  This time when I got home I noticed these cracks in the seat scupper area.  :smt009  They look minor, but i'm worried they might indicate a larger issue, maybe plastic went brittle on me after loosing my garage to house my kayaks in. Could use some advice on ways to possibly repair the area.

Whatever method you use to make the repair, consider adding buoyant stuff to your hull... I know some folks use pool noodles, but I'm sure that a lot of capped empty plastic water bottles would do the trick too.

You know, just insurance should the cracks reappear while you're OTW.

Totally agree, and my old hull was filled with them when I gave it away, forgot to transport them over  :smt005  Waiting to see them on sale at the Dollar store.  It's a good time to be looking for them just after summer.

The guy in the post had different cracks - yours look like mine.  They're not minor.  They flex and let water in while you're boating.  I've been welding mine occasionally for years and monitoring how much water gets in - usually only around a gallon or less.  I don't think it's brittle - it's a design flaw and not enough strength where the stresses of strapping or even just sitting on it show up.  They're awesome boats, but they come with liabilities and a company that often fails to get it right, IMO.

Good luck.   :smt001
