My good friend David joined me today at Trinidad for his first trip in a year due to covid and some physical issues he was dealing with last summer.  It was great to get some time on the water with my buddy, and the bite was decent.  T-dad's been putting out a fair number of lingcod over 30" so far this season, and the blacks are thick.

We went in around 1230, and my other good friend David hung out at the Tailgate Fillet Station while I processed and bagged up my catch.  It's nice to have Trinidad just a 40 minute drive up 101 from my place, but once salmon opens I think you know where I'll be!

Counting down the days until June 29th.   :smt001

Some nice fish!  Suspicious date on that black...  :smt005  An actual 27", would beat the current state record by 2-3#.

Blacks are fun. Have had blacks slam small metal jigs jumping and flying out of the water. Also some cool moments in the water where larger solitary fish appear like ghosts to be silhouetted by the surrounding environs.. arching their backs and turning while investigating one's presence.

Thnx for the great fishing time report and pics!

Here's a shot of them I took from the top of Trinidad Head as they were headed in. It's all about perspective.
