I was looking for something that might serve as a definitive guide for maintenance on a Hobie Drive ... Hopefully it would cover what to lube, what to check for wear, what adjustments to make over time, simple things that would increase the longevity of the beast ...

I checked the Hobie site and other than a few tips, came up empty. Does something akin to a maintenance manual exist? (or must I comb this and other sites to make mine own?) I did find the post on dismantling the 180 drive, but was also looking for simple information (or tips) like, "lube this every trip" versus "grease this only once per year" type info.

I have been using Mirage drives for many years.  Other than a really good rinse with fresh water and a spray with WD40, I have never had to do anything to my drives, accept making sure the tension is proper on the cables.  After 9 years of use, I took my drive to CCK in Oakland for a "tune up'.  It was checked and I was told it needed nothing.  I rarely fish fresh water so rinsing well seems to be the key.  A tip: If you do tighten the cables, make sure you have a proper fitting wrench to hold the fitting that's crimped to the cable or you will destroy the cable.

This guy posted a detailed discussion on the Hobie forum (this is the 3rd part): https://www.hobie.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=60&t=12578

Btw, if you have a GT drive, I’d recommend getting rid of the delrin bearings and replace them with nylon. That’ll eliminate any squeaking and you don’t need any grease or lube of any kind (nylon is self-lubricating). The only trick is to use 1 less bearing in each case.

Thanks NoWhereman, the Hobie forum is the best resource seen to date. Not much in the way of lubrication needed on the 360 drive - and your link lead me to the larger forum area which covered most of what I needed on the 360 drive. A bit of tightening, a few checks, and a dollop of grease ... nice.
