I have a couple of Cobra tourers and they are light and fast.  Odesey surf ski’s from the 90’s are fast and made in Elk if you can find one.  Just acquired a 30 year old Tsunami tandem that my wife and I can make fly.  All the tarpons are fast.  Eddy line if you can afford.  My hobie AI is faster then all of them.
Paddling wise?  Sorry, just curious and would be good if you can confirm.

The Hobie is a pedal kayak with outriggers.  I finally bought a fat plastic kayak after a rough Albion Open.   I had to fish with both legs in the water as
the surf ski’s were tippy.

I have an aquaterra prism that is fast, fairly light and a bit tippy. Id part with it for $250.00. Or the boat in grass valley could come live here for a bit till you or someone else could pick it up. Weimar is 20+- min from Grass valley and most folks drive by my shop in Auburn on the way to work in sac. Let me know

Thanks! I'll send you a PM.

Tarpon 160?
That is a possibility, though sounds like it is on the heavy side?

Necky Dolphins pop up from time to time and are in line with what you are looking for -- well built boats.

Cheers,
Brad
Thanks, Brad. I will add that to the list.

I presume neither of your Cobras is for sale?

I ended up buying a beat up Scupper Pro for $300. I plan to report back once I get it on the water.

Hip squeezer supream. Small seat indent. Hope you are in a smaller hip class. I have one and it is fast but I can't spend more than an hour paddling it without pain due to compression in hip joints. Other than that they are awesome kayaks! My daughter's love it  :smt044

I got the Scupper Pro out for a quick 3.5 mile paddle this morning. Overall I am happy with it:

- Light enough to carry, so no need to deal with a cart if the water is close.
- The after-market seat it came with isn't great, but my back and hips felt fine at the end of the outing.
- Reasonable speed and glide considering it is less than 15' long. Seemed plenty stable for my uses.
- The moldings for bracing your feet don't allow for ideal positioning for me, but I was able to add a little bit of leg drive/hip pivot to my paddle stroke.
- Even without a rudder it tracked well in quartering wind and chop. Not sure how it will do in a really nasty wind.
- Need to add some rod holders and maybe a clip inside the hull to hold a bilge pump.
- It was cheap enough that I don't feel bad about leaving it on top of the car or next to the house.

I think it will be a good minimalist/no fuss kayak.

I'm still interested in a Profisha 575 if anyone is selling one.  :smt002

I came crossed a surf ski on facebook for sale $600: https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/182600016864850/

after checking the specs(19ft long and less than 20inches wide), I figured out I am not skillful enough to handle it and/or surf ski is not a good fishing choice.
