So I’ve been using my old bass baitcaster set ups for my bay fishing from the bank. Now that I am going to brave the bay in the kayak I’m looking to get a new set up or two. I’d like something I can drop to the bottom and jig also something I can cast and throw swim baits and buck tails with. Not looking to break the bank. If you got a budget or mid class recommendation on rod and reel set up I would really appreciate it. Also, I usually spool 20lb braid and then a flourish leader George bass fishing. What are your line recommendations?
Ass, Grass, or Bass.

I think your question might be too broad to answer.  Your target fish, exact budget, conventional or spinning....
I use 50 lbs line (Okuma M-5NII Metaloid 2-Speed Lever Drag Reel) and my wife use 30 lbs braided line (Daiwa BG BG4000 Spinning Reel).
Some other reels I own are Daiwa LEXA-WN300HS-P Lexa Type WN and Daiwa Saltist Star Drag Conventional Reel.
You might want to watch some YouTubes for suggestions.

Reel: For a midrange/budget reel look into something like the Kastking Kapstan 300. It’s a low profile reel(bass bait caster) that holds a decent amount of line. It has a clicker that you can turn off and on which I like for fishing bait.

Line: Braid in the 30-65 lb class. I use 40 or 50 lb myself.

Rod: Really depends on what you are doing. A jigging rod won’t really be great for throwing swimbaits. I would look for something around 7ft long. Long enough to cast and to get around the front of the kayak. Tons of options out there in all sorts of price ranges.

Nothing wrong with using a MH H bass rod...  unless you want sturgeon then you’d probably want more backbone and softer tip. Those Daiwa boat rods are nice , if trevala or some other inshore rod isn’t in ur price range.

I’d look at something like a 7’ MH Ugly Stik Tiger for the rod. Not the nicest rod but surely the best for the low price tag... Reel wise I’d say you can do well with a smaller Penn Squall potentially.

At least for swimbaits/artificials the gear you’re using now is fine.  Just rinse it with fresh water after every outing.

An M/L Ugly Stick or a Trevala M/L are my favorites. Reels, Shimano TR100G or the 200G (same reel different widths).  Swap out the handle and grease the drags, and you are in the game.  You can hunt around for a new or used Swedish made Abu Garcia 5500 or 6500 (if you want a Lefty look for a 5501 or 6501). Older reel no frills but they do a good job for their price point. I prefer to switch to the Abu Power Handle, and grease the drags (see Alan Tani.com for advice on that).

+5000 on the tiger ugly stick.

Penn Squall reels are sweet as well...i got one for my daughter's/loaner rod, and it has been beat to shit and is still working well.
