Skiing/snowboarding and skateboarding have similar deaths to kayaking. And they are all about the same as lightning strikes.

In Los Angeles in the 70s they wanted all divers to carry their dive logs showing that they had made x dives per year and to present it to the lifeguards before being allowed to dive. They passed that Ordinance and the dive community said go to hell and the Life Guards said we don't have time for that. After two years it got repealed. It was all in response to a few deaths per year.  This is the same nonsense
never met a Dry Fly I didn't like
