I thought you were going to say "like a Fiat" - The Click and Clack Bros used to say FIAT stood for "Fix It Again, Tony".

Ah, I loved Cartalk.

I think harken makes a lot of Hobie hardware? Only the best. Expensive, but maintaining a Hobie is still WAAAAY cheaper than boat

The cam cleats on a Hobie are by Harken, but that block in the picture is a cheapo. For the price they charge, it seems to me that Hobie should use something better than that. Anyways, definitely agree that a Hobie is way, way cheaper to maintain than a "real" boat.

So to follow up, I ordered 4 of those cheek blocks and replaced all of them. The others, even though they were still functioning, were all showing that same wear from the line cutting through it. For anyone who hasn't had these redone in a few years, I'd recommend having a few on hand for the day your rudder line starts jamming. Or maybe it was a bad batch. Sounds like most haven't had this problem.

Thanks to Bigtuna for posting the part!

My trajectory seems to be aimed at a Hobie (but only one of the ones with amas)

So far been in wait and watch mode and the kinds of problems people are having are a little surprising given the price tag for one of these boats, and also that Hobie would have these kind of issues since they’ve been making sailboats for so long
