Informative article. I guess it would take a lot of energy to pump recycled water from end users back up into the system.

Pretty lame on both sides but the ‘80s era homophobic slurs say something about Santa Cruz. Feels a bit of a time warp over there for both good and bad. Mostly good but…

General Talk / Re: Kayak Dogs

My GSP is 5 months old and loves water. I hope to take her out on the ocean but wonder how many hours she would be good for. At this stage I would worry about her grabbing a baited hook and then having to deal with trying to extract a hook out of a panicked dog on the high seas.
Today she lasted for over 1/2 hour in the canoe before going overboard.

And what’s with “Great White Shark”? Like every member of that species is inherently great? They all get a participation medal? I think there are a lot of mediocre white sharks out there undeserving of the name.

" I put a lot of miles on my drive and usually fish 2-3 times a week depending on the weather."
- sounds like you are "better at life" than me.

No halibut for me trolling a lure. After couple hours switched to rockfish and picked up a few smallish fish at 1 mile buoy. Wind picked up and I trolled anchovies over towards lighthouse for 1 croaker. Picked up a gopher around there but whitecaps were unfriendly and no one was there so I headed in. Does anyone else get the old Hawaii Five-0 music in their head when they’re riding following waves in?

So I think I'm heading to Santa Cruz out of the harbor and head West to the point and maybe the 1 mile. Probably launch 7:30/8:00.

I might try Monterey for the first time, or Santa Cruz again. The wind and swell look a little better down there.

The radius of the bite could have been from large sea lion, but it’s so clean that maybe it was small shark. Thresher? From what I’ve seen of sea lions, they tend to tear and rip with lots of dangly bits.

Hey ya'll

Gonna hit up Lake Berryessa in the wee hours of the morning launching from the Pope creek day use area and fishing all around for some bass.

If anyone wants to join hmu! I'll be in the sand dune 2019 Outback.

I did that Pope Creek launch once this year with the Outback and was only able to after meeting another Norcal Kayaker there. It is a 2 person job for an Outback for sure, especially getting back up. Putah Creek at $15 is worth it. Cappell Cove launch might still be free. It was earlier. Someone recently caught another 14 lb Largemouth.

I ended up going for a few hours on Sunday on my little i9. Started with a herring and as people started catching shakers around 11:30 I decided to not miss out and switched to an anchovy and got a 16" shaker. Beautiful weather.

Was considering poke poling. I usually hit the San Mateo coast. My old favorite spot was turned into an MPA and the other spots just aren't s good. A friend and I once pulled 8 eels out of 1 hole.

I'm shooting for Saturday, looks marginally better. Both days it looks like outgoing to a big low and then a little bit of incoming before the wind kicks up by 1pm or 2pm.

Darn, I bought a new rubberized net and I thought it would be better for the tails, but looks like maybe not. I used a fish gripper on a short with no problem, (and on a 26") but now it sounds like that can be a problem too. If they aren't close, I will just try to grab the hook.

Those Fresh n Salty guys look out for each other. Their get-togethers can be a bit large-scale for my taste though.
