General Fishing Tips / Transducer Woes on Raymarine Element

After installing a Raymarine Element 7 transducer back in October 2020 via Berlypro cover on my Revo 13, I've found this very ineffective.

This set up is specially bad on surf launches where it gets filled with sand making readings useless. I did a bottom fishing trip last Friday and was fishing blind. Good thing the GPS was OK. I was using my line counter reel to tell me the water depth. Fortunately the fish were biting.

As a next step I will try a in hull install with a water cup method. Then plan B is with an external arm.
**Note - For my style of fishing, I use GPS / Sonar combo screen 95% of the time. I hardly use 3D imaging.

Any advice and feedback would be appreciated.

Gearing Up and Rigging Up / 3D Imaging Transducer - Best install?

Hi Guys,

I am upgrading to Raymarine Element 7 HV and still figuring out the best way where to mount the transducer on my 2018 Revo 13. I'm aiming on getting the best 3D image reading. I am considering 2 options. This my first time to own a FF w/ 3D Imaging.
I've ruled out using an external transducer arm.

1. Through hull Foam cup method, cut piece of foam, insert transducer then put water.
I understand that water temp readings won't be accurate.

2. Use BerlyPro Raymarine HV-100 Ready Transducer Mount. I know this will provide the best reading. My concern is the transducer is sticking out and might get damaged.

It would be great to get your opinions and share your experience.

Marin County Open, except Point Reyes National Seashore and its beaches are closed due to the Woodward Fire. Check with the park for updates.

Monterey County Beaches around Monterey Bay are closing Friday, Sept. 4 through Monday, Sept. 7. This includes all beaches from Big Sur to Santa Cruz operated by California State Parks, and beaches in Big Sur, Carmel, Pebble Beach, Pacific Grove, Monterey, Seaside and Marina.

Pacifica Beaches and parking lots are closed sunrise Saturday, Sept. 5 to sunrise Tuesday, Sept. 8. The Coastal Trail, Mori Point hiking trails, Beach Boulevard Promenade, and Pacifica Pier will remain open. More details.

San Francisco Open

San Mateo County Open, except for Pacifica

Santa Cruz County Beaches closed 5 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, to 5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 7 — except for an open period from 4-8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. During closures, you're allowed to walk across the sand to participate in water activities, but sunbathing and beach walks are not permitted.

San Mateo County's Fitzgerald Marine Reserve in Moss Beach was deemed the most polluted beach in the state due to polluted runoff from San Vicente Creek, according to Heal the Bay. Fitzgerald Marine Reserve has never appeared on a Beach Bummer list until this year.

Pillar Point Harbor at Capistrano Avenue in Half Moon Bay, Erckenbrack Park in Foster City, Pillar Point Harbor Beach, Linda Mar Beach at San Pedro Creek and Pillar Point Harbor at Westpoint Avenue were also listed among the 10 most polluted beaches in the state.

The group noted that the Pillar Point Harbor locations were all affected by pollutants from multiple storm drains that flow into the enclosed harbor.
