I've got a 15' yellow prowler trident for sale.  Has an anchor trolly, seat, two rod holders behind the seat and comes with a paddle and ez cart.  I'm asking 600 for everything.  The kayak has only been out 4-5 times, its almost new.  call Jeff @ 209-596-5992 if interested

I've actually thought about doing that on mine as well. Here are some instructions I found.http://www.sit-on-topkayaking.com/Articles/Instruction/SixInchHatch.htm I'm not sure if this hatch will be too big or not but the installation should be the same.

General Talk / Newbee Live bait question
« on: July 28, 2009, 07:13:07 PM »
I'm wondering if it is worth keeping the live bait you catch and freezing it for the next time out?  Also are the smelt 10"- 14" too big to use?

Hookups and Fishing Reports (Viewable by Public) / Monterey
« on: July 28, 2009, 07:05:27 PM »
A friend of mine and I met up with fishfarmer(Ben) and PhishPhanatic(Martin) this morning at the coast guard peer.  We launched from the adjacent beach at 6:30 and started off looking for bait without any luck.  Jake and I split off and went to the kelp while everyone else tried their luck in the deeper water past the kelp. I don't believe anyone had any luck out past the kelp but we did catch several rockfish in the kelp along with a hefty supply of jack smelt.  Over all a fun trip the water was very calm, but the overcast hung around all day.  It was only my second time out so i'm hopeing to hook up with some people that can teach me how to chase some butt's next time.

General Talk / Capitola

I am thinking about going out to Capitola in the next couple of weeks.  My wife and I stayed at pleasure point and I was looking at maybe trying the kelp along that beach.  I've only been out in the ocean once so far so was I was looking for some advise on the area, mostly if it is safe enough for a couple of newbee's and should I launch from the marina or is there a better location than that?  I haven't launched in the surf yet.

IMO best way to find what your looking for in the fishing reports.......go out and fish what you want to know about, then post it. :fish   -Jeff-

Gearing Up and Rigging Up / Radio
« on: July 23, 2009, 02:51:48 PM »
It finally showed up. Just got my vhf handheld.  I bought a cobra mr hh 400x.  I don't know much about these handheld vhf's but I thought cobra is a good name and it looks like it will get the job done.  Any do's and don'ts for me?

It's my friend's first time out also and my second in saltwater so we probably are going to launch from the coast guard boat ramp and fish along cannery row.  It's a pretty mellow spot and we caught some rock cod last trip in the kelp off of shrimp flies.  Planning on being there 6:30am.  I'm not sure if my marine radio will be delivered by then but I'm expecting it today, if I have it i'll be on ch69 otherwise call me @ 209-596-5992 and hopefully we'll see you out there.   -Jeff- :coffee:  :fish
