For Sale / Folding crab traps
« on: October 21, 2023, 05:31:39 PM »
I have 6 folding crab traps that I probably won’t use again if anyone needs some traps for the up coming season. I’m not really sure what they are worth maybe 20$ a piece or all for 100? Make an offer ? I think there are two different styles. Up in Placerville or could meet in Sacramento area.

For Sale / Ok trident 13 pictures added
« on: June 23, 2021, 04:50:15 PM »
My son told me he is gonna sell his trident 13 he doesn’t use it much and he will eventually be moving. If anyone is looking for a kayak I can put you in touch. He said it’s in good shape but some of the straps and bungees are shot from the sun and need replaced. He is going to leave the Lowrance Mark Four fish finder with it and transducer. It has been wired and was working last time used but he hasn’t used it for about 5 years and doesn’t have a battery so doesn’t know if it still works. Paddle included. he lives in roseville if interested shoot me a message and I will get you his number. He said he is gonna list it on CL for 650 but is open to offers from ncka

General Talk / Places to go for nature paddle/relaxing
« on: August 08, 2020, 06:06:41 AM »
I have a good friend who wants to take his brother out for some relaxing kayak touring. Somewhere where they can enjoy some nature maybe see some otters or seals or something along the coast. He was thinking of moss landing but I couldn’t give him much info as I have never been there. I think they want to go somewhere along the coast.

I have a couple kayaks I could loan him but I said there might be some where there to rent so they don’t have to mess with hauling them and all that. I just wasn’t sure with the whole covid thing if these places were still open. I told him I will help watch the weather and check wind and swell forecasts for whenever they go.

I would also appreciate any other suggestions to if someone knows a good place they could go for a paddle Any info on places to rent and orpaddle. Thanks in advance

General Fishing Tips / Salmon jigs
« on: September 11, 2017, 10:33:43 PM »
With salmon starting to show up in the river systems i poured up a bunch of 2 3 and 4 oz jigs and am going to try to get out and get a few with the kayak.

I wanted to clarify and verify what I believe to read in the reg book

according to what I read if I am upstream of highway 50 bridge I believe any jig or spinner (non buoyant) over 1 oz in weight must have a single hook not a treble and the maximum gap on that hook would be 1".

Downstream of highway 50 bridge I would be considered in the delta area and could use a treble hook if I choose but maximum gap on treble hook would be 3/4" or single hook with 1" maximum gap.

I hoping there are some on here who could verify what I read in the reg book and also any advice or opinion  on hook style, size, ect would be appreciated

General Talk / See you later NCKA
« on: September 13, 2016, 10:16:55 PM »
This title seems like it will draw a crowd......

I have a old set of kayak racks free to anyone who wants them. They stick in stake pockets of pickup. (2007 Dodge Ram 2500) Could probably be modified easily if necessary. I was gonna toss them but figured someone may want need them. They get the kayak from point a to b.
Free
Sac area

The outside to outside dimension of the front rack is 69" and the rear is 66". The racks are made out of galvanized unistrut which is pretty much 1-5/8" square with rounded corners and a slotted hole every 2" one set has a nut welded in that bolts in my truck the other rack just sat in pockets. I tied my kayak to the truck so it held the racks down in pockets. I just used a small wood shim to snug up the rack in the stake pocket. Approximately 33.5" tall bottom of post to crossbar.

For Sale / SOLD 2013 Eddyline Caribbean 14
« on: July 17, 2016, 09:28:57 PM »
Putting my 14' Caribbean up for sale. Has factory installed rudder, seat and mod pod. Also has a nice anchor trolley setup I can put back on if anyone is interested. Has two flush mount Scotty bases and two more deck mounts. Also a nice spot for flat Plano box up front and a track down each side for whatever you need to mount. Has a good setup for a water bath transducer and battery inside. In a world where most kayaks seem to get heavier every year a 50 lb. 14' kayak is a treat.
1200$

I have been toying with the idea ever since I started pouring lead jig heads and finally ordered some more molds to start making some lead flutter jigs. I wanted to get some people opinions on the best hook to pair these up with. I will probably end up putting some of these up for sale but I am not wanting to stock a hole bunch of hook options so I want to keep it simple.  I am thinking at this time jigs in the 2-4 oz range. What type of hooks do people have the best luck with on these. I am contemplating a single instead of treble hooks?
Also any sort of paint schemes people have in particular that they are fond of? I'm hoping I can rig up my powder paint to do larger objects but I may have to try something else like vinyl paint or reflective tape.

For Sale / various sinkers / lead weights
« on: May 09, 2016, 08:01:02 AM »
I got these in with a bunch of scrap lead and was going to melt them but figured to first see if anyone wanted them. I don't have much use for them but I don't want to waste them if someone else does
The big 12 oz torpedoes mostly only have eyes on one ends maybe for big drop down weights? I also got the guys molds so if anyone needs more of these let me know. Pretty much selling at 1.50$ per lb which isn't much above lead price. I would prefer to sell in lots
10$ for the crescent weights
20 for the torpedos
34 for the cannonballs

Will ship on your dime or can ncka express located in Sacramento

For Sale / Jigheads@GSX sales/deliveries
« on: May 03, 2016, 08:19:56 PM »
I am starting a separate thread to deal with jig head orders that people would like delivered to shelter cove during the GSX weekend. If you would like any delivered the sooner you can let me know the better your chances are. I will probably pour lead one more time before then so if you like anything in particular the sooner the better for filling your requests.

You can find more detail on my other classified thread which some computer genius will probably link over I don't know how. Basic rundown is shad heads and bullet nose jig heads colors red, white , chartreuse green, purple and black.
1.5oz .75$  (Shad only)
2oz.   1.00$  (Shad only)
2.5oz. 1.25$
3oz.    1.50$
4oz.    1.75$
Archie Marx has generously volunteered to bring people orders with him up from Sac. However he is there to enjoy his time too so he won't be tracking people down to deliver stuff. He will let us know where you can pick up your box at which point I recommend buying him a beer or some other show of appreciation. Boxes will be labeled with your name.

If there are no objections I will start a running list of names of people with orders coming and whether or not paid so that you are well aware of your status and also maybe your friends will help remind you of pickup and stuff
Money will not be collected at GSX it will need to be taken care of in advance. Once again let's make it easy for Archie!

PayPal is easiest send to
scordtz@sbcglobal.net
(as friends and family please) and please include a note with who it is for. if PayPal is not an option pm me and we can work something out probably. Also usps shipping is always an option 6.80$ to your door.

Hope everyone has a great time at the cove this year. I will be helping my parents move so won't be able to make it. Have a safe weekend

For Sale / Lead jig heads For Sale
« on: April 09, 2016, 08:46:10 PM »
I have many sizes and shapes of lead jig heads for sale. What started as a experiment at lead pouring has blossomed into a larger hobby and I am pleased to offer quality lead heads to the NCKA community at a low price. I have shad heads, bulletnose heads, and spear point jig heads. They are currently priced as follows

Shad heads

1.5 oz.      .75$          7/0 hook
2oz.        1.00$          7/0 hook
2.5oz.     1.25$          8/0 hook
3oz.        1.50$          8/0 hook
4oz.        1.75$          8/0 hook

Bullet nose heads

2.5oz.      1.25$         8/0 hook
3oz.         1.50$         8/0 hook
4oz.         1.75$         8/0 hook

Spear point jigs
3 oz.         1.50$        7/0 hook
4 oz.         1.50$.       7/0 hook

All jig heads include painting in the color of your choice. Available colors are red, white, green chartreuse, purple, and black. Paint is baked on in the oven.
I will be using Mustad 32786 black nickel hooks, extra wide gap. Size 8/0 hooks on larger heads (7/0 on the smaller shad heads and spearpoint jigs) I still have some bullet nose jigs with the duratin plated silver hooks but everything new I'm pouring now will be the black nickel hooks.

I can accept paypal and I can ship in the mail a flat rate 6.80$ USPS. I am in the sacramento area and travel around a bit for work too so I'm open to meeting up for drop offs

Feel free to pm me any questions and all feedback is appreciated.

General Talk / mendicino camping
« on: April 24, 2014, 09:15:23 PM »
I was wondering if anyone has any experience or recommendations for campgrounds along the mendicino albion elk area. I am planning on going next month or two but will probably go on short notice depending on conditions. I know for fishing albion campground probably isthe best bet but i think my wife would like something more private with seperate spaces, trees, bushes ect. Im imagining without a reservation van damne or other state parks would be booked. Has anyone stayed at the mendicino campground or maybe schooners? Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated
