I ended up not doing this trip due to the wind.

Tried out O'Neil Forebay instead because the wind forecast looked a little better. Heard one guy say he caught some stripes near check#12...but he had already "sold" them all by the time I talked to him. Dead anchovies were allegedly the ticket.

I trolled Rapalas and another red + white deep diving minnow at various depths (6 - 12ft) near the transition area between the channel and the flats around check #13. No bites but I saw tons of carp if anyone targets those.  The wind picked up so I moved to the shore fished near check #12. Didn't see anyone land anything for the 3 hours I was there. Tried anchovies on a 3-way rig and flutter spoons with no success.

Still somewhat new to the forum, is there a way to delete or modify the post? I don't want people to be mislead and think there's useful info here on Berryessa.

I will post again when I go back out. Thanks for all the tips so far.

Forecast for the 8th.

Time to whip out the spinnerbaits  :smt002

Might end up cancelling...that's pretty brutal. What site do you use for these forecasts?

Thanks to the famous Youtubers who blew up that spot and killed the salmon fishery there, the easy path from the parking lot to the water had been blocked by two large boulders. You wonít be able to walk your kayak over them, but you could unpack and hand carry it over the boulders or take the steep hill narrow path. Itís easier to launch from the boat launch a mile further.

Thanks for the heads up. I planned to walk it down from the little turn off right before the lot (attached). I like to get on the water early which I assume means before they open the gates (google says 7:30 am).

Will report back regardless of outcome...

Hey ya'll

Gonna hit up Lake Berryessa in the wee hours of the morning launching from the Pope creek day use area and fishing all around for some bass.

[Edited]

Ended up skipping this trip due to wind and launch issues. Report on San Luis Reservoir striper action included instead.

Where have you gone so far on the delta? I'm super curious to get out there on the yak looking bass.

Spent some time around Big Break but the wind/current ended it early. Going to try Liberty Island soon.

Hi y'all  :smt006

Moved to SJ recently and brought my love for kayak angling with me. Currently targeting stripers on the delta. We'll see how that goes...
