Gearing Up and Rigging Up / Outriggers for pulling crab pots?
« on: October 18, 2023, 06:49:37 PM »
I have never gone out and set crab pots on my Kayak. Have done it on an aluminum boat. I have a hobie PA 14. Do guys use outriggers to stay stabile while pulling pots or is the PA 14 stable enough on its own? Have no desire to take a swim. There is a lot of experience on this forum that I would like to learn from rather than my own mistakes.

Glad you came through safely. Cab over camper is going to be  home while on the retirement road. Can't wait to explore everywhere there is salt water. So far just a lot of fresh water fishing.

5
Good luck hope you can make it out. Life is looking like I will be able to start joining in on some trips

General Fishing Tips / Re: Kokanee Advanced Tackle Breakdown
« on: August 15, 2023, 06:27:02 AM »
I don't know that I want to refer to myself as a gear horder but know I can't go into a tackle shop especially a fly shop and not at least come out with some sort of material. I know I came by it honestly from my mother and her sewing supplies. It's only going to get worse with kayak fishing

Thank you for all the great information. I have just started fishing Kokanee since I got my Kayak and can't get enough of it. I am trying to learn everything I can about fishing for them and  Kayak fishing in general. Totally addicted to kayak fishing. Keep the info coming, I know I will keep going back to this post and will be gleaning information out of it multiple times.
Thanks again,
Curt

Hi I'm Grandpa Poppi, the name comes from my grandkids and when I had to come up with a user name that was it. They were pretty pleased.
I actually live in Reno. So far all my fishing has been in California. Basically fished all my life but am always open to learning something new. I bit the bullet and bought a Hobie pro angler 14 and love it. Basically all I can think about these days is getting back on the water. My wife has kayaked for several years and has been wanting me to get into it. Glad I listened this time.
Recently I have mostly done fly fishing when I am on the rivers and lakes. Am in no way a purist, different techniques for different fish and different days. Grew up fishing the Ocean and can't wait to get back out there too. Excited about traveling with it to new places.
So much to learn about fishing from a kayak. Every day is something new. Always something new to learn.
