The reason he posted that disclaimer was because of a video I took at the crab opener at Baker Beach. The guys in the video were inspired by one of his videos (literally told me this) and they tried to do what he did. This got back to him and he felt pretty bad. Watch the video and see how that ends up.

Newbie kooks, rolled in surf, losing all gear, firing squad on shore laughing at them.....Id almost lost faith in mankind but it appears that all is still right with the world.  I give the video a 10.

We were dying. This was the second of 3 attempts too. First attempt I believe they lost there neighbors trolling motor. Third attempt they got out... But only 1 guy was on board. The second guy was floating next to the boat for a good 15 minutes before a surfer in a wetsuit paddled out to him and saved them. On top of this they finally dropped 1 pot about 50 get from shore.

My friend yelled "heads up"and was about 6 feet away from hitting them with a crab snare. They ended up drifting up on the beach moments later both completely soaked wearing track suits or gym shorts. We gave them jackets to warm up.

I can't even make this shit up. A surfer even went out and retrieved there pot. Zero crab but no surprise there.

General Fishing Tips / Re: are west coast stripers hybrids??

Not Hybrids - but rather inbred. Some say the broken pattern in the lines is due to less healthy population ie polluted. Who knows if this is true though.

General Fishing Tips / Re: Spider hitch on dropper rigs
« on: December 18, 2017, 10:41:15 PM »
Well I went out on a charter and was dropping 12oz weights (which were light at the Farallons) and it performed well. I think better than a dropper but similar all in all.

Sick video. Better than our tourney haha

General Fishing Tips / Spider hitch on dropper rigs
« on: December 13, 2017, 06:13:21 PM »
Anyone use a spider hitch know instead of the typical dropper loop knot for high low rigs? From what I've read it's a bit better than a typical dropper loop or palomar knot for high low rigs. Interested to hear people's thoughts.

According to the one comment on there, after they were rescued, they hopped back in the canoe (still in waders) and went back out on the water to try crabbing again... :smt044
Yah I read that too. Dumb doesn't even come close...

Had some fun tying these. Christmas tree fly is probably my favorite. Rubberband fly was the most questionable haha

Hookups and Fishing Reports (Viewable by Public) / Re: Timber Cove 10/14
« on: December 01, 2017, 01:12:06 PM »
I'm mostly a shore angler and this week has been pretty brutal in the surf... it's that "I want to go out, oh wait, 10 foot swells... hmmm maybe I could catch something? right?" Probably not.

Had a job go sideways today (people working right where I'm supposed to paint so a no go) - so now I'm trying to figure out what beach might be halfway decent for snaring. Thinking China.

Thanks for the recommendations. I really want to get out there again before the season ends but we'll see if that happens. It's kind of a hike from the City but the fishing is unmatched from my short experience at it. I fish a few times a week in the Bay and surf, but it's so hit or miss- the reason I got a yak is because I know the fish are beyond reach of the shores. Give me a shout if either of you head up north,
