General Fishing Tips / Re: Kayak loading on tailgate spoiler

This was my solution a few years back, it worked great. Used large diameter PVC wrapped with camping pad.

We've not met but just wanted to say I'm very touched by your ordeal, and truly happy for the miraculous turnaround. Clots are very scary and seemingly unpredictable things. I had one develop in my leg (DVT). Then a year or so later my brother was having some difficulty breathing -- doctors thought it was viral for a couple of weeks -- turns out he had multiple lung clots. We're both now healthy and going strong as ever, and it sounds like your wife will be the same in the near future. God bless.

General Fishing Tips / Santa Barbara from the beach?
« on: June 07, 2021, 08:45:30 AM »
Will be in SB next week for a few days, won't be able to bring the yak but wondered if it's worth while to bring some gear and fish from the beach? Anyone have experience?

Thanks!

I was out there yesterday afternoon. Got a few stripers and two shakers.

Been sort of a strange fall for me so far. I've been out numerous times in the mid/north bay (san rafael and surrounding areas) and the fishing has been slow AF compared to past years. There's bait everywhere, good tides, etc but it's been tough everywhere I've tried. Always manage to scratch out a few fish but doesn't compare to past years.

I'm assuming the big push thru the bay is still to come? Anyone else getting out these days?

General Talk / Just legal But -- how much meat
« on: June 11, 2020, 12:14:45 AM »
Have caught a few 22 and 23 inch halibuts recently. I let them all go bc it seems like they would make for some pretty small/thin fillets. Am I wrong, is there enough there?

General Talk / FS Jackson Cuda 14 REDUCED -- SOLD
« on: June 08, 2020, 04:30:52 PM »
Don't really want to sell it, but the boss says it's time.

Low mileage, washed after every trip, always stored protected from sun and elements, bottom is in great shape, no leaks around hatch covers etc. No holes drilled in the hull other than to add an anchor trolly.

Super clean inside and out. No issues other than it's time to replace some of the bungie cord, and the paint on the seat frame has started to wear away.

Package includes:

kayak
Lawn chair seat
Paddle
Lowrance Mark 4 w/ thru-hull transducer (pretty sure it works but didn't have a battery to test it)
Malone cart
DIY foam roller contraption to make solo loading and unloading easy

General Talk / Re: Clean water regulation blown up
« on: January 26, 2020, 06:08:59 PM »
Really hate to get into this and don't think should be on this board but.
Please understand the issue. The Obama law took over ALL WATER in country
A major over reach of law
Need to read all the problems with Obama law to understand why it was over turned.

No the over turning will not hurt fishing in any way
I for one am glad it was over turned

Lets all go fishing

Really? The water we drink and recreate in was just going to be too clean? Jesus...

Forgive me as we've not met before, but I wanted to tell you how truly sorry I am for your loss. Some years ago something similar occurred within my family. Wishing you and those who are close, strength and peace.
