Craftsmen's Corner / Re: Filling in bolt holes?
« on: July 15, 2023, 07:53:41 PM »
Any correct sized bolt with a dap of silicone will work.  Stainless bolt if you don’t want it to rust over time.

Free parking at Paradise as well.

Hope this doesn’t eliminate any of the Rangers with the revenue cut.

There’s a Trident 11 on Facebook marketplace for $300 in Fremont.

I’d add Crescent Lite and Ultralite.  Wife has the Lite and it’s a great yak to paddle and fish off of.
She hasn’t used hers for almost a year.  I can ask if she wants to sell it (and upgrade?).

I have a friend that owns several properties next to SJSU that rents only to students.
PM me and I’ll put you in touch with her.

Tomales Monday.  Halis are deep in the bay.

Don't want to be a debbie downer, but if the target is *any* tuna, why not launch from SD and heads towards the donkey show (mexico, a little too early for wfo in US waters)?

I believe he's continuing where he left off from his previous trip.  He started in the Bay Area and made it down to Avila and his wife picked him up.

For Sale / Hobie H-Crate $80
« on: May 18, 2023, 09:52:59 PM »
I have a barely used H-Crate.  I don't use it often enough, I prefer my DIY cooler.

Dusty from being in my shed but nothing broken.  Located in El Cerrito.  Could meet you somewhere if we meet up to fish.

The one nice thing of Marshall beach is people can drive and take a little hike, there is no overnight parking so drive ins are not allowed to spend the night but it does mean some people can spend the day, just a thought.
Looks like someone reserved every available Saturday for those group camps.

I’m telling you, it’s that local kayak touring company.  They reserved every Fri-Sat for the whole year and sell them on their website to groups and provide camping/kayaking services.  They are making a huge profit even if they don’t sell out all the weekends.

I would be interested, not sure if reservations are open, I think they do have walk in space open. I know they also have the Olema campground open. Have you made reservations? Let me know, what site were you planning on, Marshall beach or another one, Ron.

I believe he’s talking about boat-in camping.  Each reservation is good for 6 people, caveat is you must launch and camp at a beach across from Tomales.  Most people typically launch from Nicks cove and camp at any of the beaches directly across from the launch (except Pelican beach/point, that’s a bird sanctuary).

That’s the weekend I leave for Japan, otherwise I’d join you.  I usually book in late July or August when it’s a little cooler.

General Talk / Re: Kayak/Gear Storage in Richmond Annex
« on: May 09, 2023, 09:15:04 PM »
Yes, I did buy a 14' Portabote which works great for Bay excursions and saves space from having to store a trailer.

As for storage, I didn't see much interest from anyone.  I did build storage racks for my two kayaks and the portabote.  I can move the portabote if someone wants space or easily build another rack if needed.  At this point, I'll open it up to an individual basis.

If anyone is still interested, then please reach out to me in PMs.

I’m all for this.
With the salmon closure and new RF regs, the halibut are going to get hammered by fishermen this summer.

General Fishing Tips / Re: Tide chart SF bay 2023
« on: April 09, 2023, 10:37:26 AM »
Great base to start with.
But theres a ton of other factors that help.  Location, depth, wind direction, abundance of bait fish, water clarity, water salinity, water temperature... list goes on and on.

But the biggest factor is sitting at home on the computer, typing on NCKA, and not getting on the water  :smt005

Places to Launch and Camp / Re: Car camping near SF?
« on: March 28, 2023, 08:03:03 PM »
I can ask my parents in Milpitas if you want to park in their driveway.  It’s safe and my mom will likely try to bring out some food to you at some point of the night.   :smt044
