For Sale / FS: Simms Transom Jacket Large (red/grey), worn 2 times
« on: November 09, 2020, 09:39:49 PM »
Hi all,

For sale is a Simms Transom Jacket in size large.

I have worn the jacket exactly 2 times. It is a bit dirty but a good wash should fix this. Why haven't I washed this myself you may ask?

I have to do laundry at a public space and I do not want to wash a 300 usd jacket in a public space where it can be damaged or stolen.

Asking for 165 USD shipped.

Jacket is less than 1 year old.

Reason for selling: when I bought it it just was a perfect fit.

Over the last month's (thank you covid) I unfortunately gained some extra pounds which makes me need to upgrade to a XL...

Don't tell the wife  :smt003

For Sale / Excellent condition 2019 Hobie Pro Angler 14 with extras
« on: July 13, 2020, 11:53:42 AM »
Hi all,

for sale is a great conditioned 2019 Hobie Pro Angler 14 in the camouflage color.

Given time and health (back issues) contraints, I have not been able to use the kayak much this year. The kayak is in a very great condition, since it has been used in total only a handful of times (fresh water only). It has some smaller scratches on the bottom, since these just can be avoided when one really uses a kayak.

The kayak comes all with the original items (seat, mirage drive). The kayak comes also with a fully installed Boonedox Landing gear (version especially for the PA14), a original cover for the PA14 and a Hobie Livewell V2 (that I have never used).

Also throwing in a Hobie Rod Holder and Cup holder (another 100USD)

All in all, this would cost you roughly 5000 USD (+tax).

I am offering the whole set for 4100 USD.

Please let me know if you are interested.

No trades, cash only in hand.

Thanks!

Hobie Kayaks / Re: Looking for a fish finder for my new 2019 Hobie PA14
« on: January 12, 2020, 06:34:16 PM »
Looked loong and strong at the Garmins, but I feel that they are last in terms of picture quality (at least what I have seen at the WestMarine demo units). I agree that touch screen is super helpful on the water when one wants to operate a unit very fast.

My current ordered list is:

1. Raymarine Element 9HV (best combo of usability, picture quality, features and build quality)
2. Lowrance Elite Ti 9 (great usability, a bit behind in picture quality behind Hummingbird Helix and Raymarine Element)
3. Hummingbird Helix (best picture quality. Felt the usability was the worst and the build quality as well)
4. Garmin Echomap (good build quality, good usability and build. Poor picture quality)

Waiting for some sales on the Raymarine or Lowrance and then will probably pull the trigger on one of the two.

For Sale / Re: (SOLD) 2019 Hobie Pro Anglers for sale $2800/ea

I bought one of the PAs.

And guys, I understand that some of you are mad, having missed out on such a great deal. But I dont think it is fair not correct to slam this guy for selling them at huge discount.

I talked to him for quite a while on the background story. And I can tell you that he is a stand up guy and not a rich dude just throwing money around!

So, let's keep ourselves a bit in check before we judge others.

Shall we!?

Hi guys!

I am absolutely stocked! I got an amazing deal on a basically new 2019 Pro Anger 14.

Now, to the next task of finding the right Fish Finder for my needs.

Since I am bit of a newbie in this regard, I am hoping to get some inputs from the community on this.

Requirements:

* At least 7 inch
* Down and side scanning
* good, robust quality
* Compatible with my hobie (I do not have the tools nor the know how to do a lot of custom work)
* Price should be (including the battery) under 1000 USD

Thanks all!

Cheers,
Seb.

Hobie Kayaks / Hobie PA 12 vs Outback with sidekicks
« on: October 22, 2019, 11:56:22 AM »
Hi all,

I am in the market for a kayak (that I will need to car top on a Honda Civic).

Since stability is ver important for me (standing up and also be able to get out in a bit rougher water), I am wondering which platform is more stable for me (6'3, 210 pounds).

2019/2020 Hobie PA 12 vs 2019/2020 Hobie Outback with sidekicks.

Any thoughts or experiences on this would be very much appreciated!

Thanks,
Seb.

Hi all,

I am in the market for a PA 12/14 and storage is the main thing that I still need to figure out.

I have contacted a couple of options but I am wondering if you have any additional recommendations.

I would prefer something that is close/ in Sausalito, has good access (24/7 or close to it), can preferably take kayaks on a trailer and does not cost a arm and a leg.

Thanks for your recommendations guys!

Cheers,
Seb.

11
Yeah,
it is not the preferred way of course.

I would park it in front of my apartment or on a parking lot that is next to a 7/11. I would def. buy a couple of heavy locks to secure it, but nothing is safe of course...

SF is just too expensive to rent a garade or other spots to store a kayak. I would probably still need to get a insurance that would protect at least a little bit.

Inflatables are not an option, since I want to stand in the Kayak for Bass fishing..

Oh well, life is full of compromises and risks. ;)

Hi there,

storage is a luxury in the Bay Area and I unfortunately do not have the space nor do I want to pay hundreds of dollars to store my kayak. So, I am wondering if storing the kayak permanently on top of my car (Honda Civic) with the appropriate roof rack + other equipment?

I am thinking of something like this here: https://wmastore.com/Hitch-Mounted-Truck-Bed-Extender-Ladder-Rack-Kayak-Canoe-AMBEDEXT.htm

Thoughts/ recommendations would be much appreciated!

Cheers,
Seb.

Kayaks / Re: My first kayak: Titan 10.5 vs PA12
« on: January 30, 2018, 08:25:47 PM »
Not close to you but Headwaters Kayak in Lodi is a Native dealer.  I have the 13.5 and I don't think I can flip it if I try.

Try Claveys in Petaluma. I believe they deal with Native brand kayaks. I am not 100% but you could call them.

Thanks all. I will check those places out. Would be awesome to test the PA12 and the Titan side by side. Otherwise I would have to rely on subjective memories that can always be a bit missleading

West Marine won't carry the Titan that I know of.

I have a demo available for you if you're ever in the tri-valley area.  I used it last weekend and crabfest and its a lot of fun.  I would say it might be slightly slower than the PA12 but I don't think it would be much. I cruised right at 4mph over the weekend.

Kayaks / My first kayak: Titan 10.5 vs PA12
« on: January 29, 2018, 11:10:46 PM »
Hi all,

with the tax return money I am planning to buy my first fishing kayak. I have test driven the PA 12 and the Outback so far and I am leaning more towards the PA12 since it was far more stable for me (the Outback also felt a bit cheap, it felt like it was bending when I paddled it hard, also in the end it is 'just' 20 pounds heavier than the PA12). I would like to test drive the Titan 10.5 but I am not sure if there is a dealer in my area (Marin County, CA) where this would be possible.

I am 6'3. 210 pounds and I love to sight fish. I would be using the kayak 60% on lakes and 40% inshore. I need to carry the kayak on my Honda Civic (Thule 480 R roof rack + going to buy something like a Rhino Rack T-Load Hitch Mount). I have to store the kayak outside.

Per outing I would like to carry a minimum of 6 rods with me and a couple of tackle boxes. Standing is important to me since I want to be able to pitch and flip.

Anybody that had to make the same decision between these options. What are the cons and pros in your opinion?

Thanks.

Cheers,
Seb.

General Talk / Which Kayak Stores to check out in the Bay Area
« on: December 05, 2017, 02:48:45 PM »
Hi all,

I am pretty close to buying my first fishing kayak. I think I am pretty set on a Hobie, but would like to test some oder peddle kayaks as well.

I live in Sausalito, but would be willing to drive a bit to get to a shop that has a great selection, good service and a way to test drive the yaks.

Do you have any recommendation on shops that I should consider?

Thanks!

Cheers,
Seb.
