what type of water shoes do you guys suggest. I want something that will keep my feet dry when i launch my yak. Do you guys suggest getting waterproof socks and some water shoes?

I recently bought a "factory second" kayak from a local kayak store and while i was install my fish finder i saw this on one of the sumps. Is this a structural damage or is it okay to have something like this?
