Fishing Tournaments and Events / Re: MBK Derby 2024
« on: March 23, 2024, 02:37:47 PM »
I signed up. Would it be crazy to try to set up a clean n cook area for fish? Maybe it's too much with everything else going on. Not that I don't love a good hot dog though.

I can set p a clean and cook station only for those going to cook. It will just turn into a mess if everyone cleans there fish as we arent set up for that mess

I can attest to this as I volunteered to keep organized and dispose of "fish trimmings" for the previous Catch & Cook event.   It was difficult to keep trash, recycling or anything other than fish waste from getting in the bin.
It isn't fun being the trash police.   :smt018
Then I had to responsibly dispose of it which I did.  Took it up to the ranch and buried it under the persimmon tree with the excavator.

Adam- I'm happy to volunteer again for your event how ever I can help, I haven't checked my schedule yet tho so don't write me in just yet

Thanks Paul
I'm looking forward to eating some fresh rockfish

Hopefully the council will favor the option of keeping it closed.

I also agree

Thanks for sharing. I wonder if these regs are final for 2024.
I believe the meetings next week will set the regs/calendar

No Rod Holders

What about a weighted milk crate, inverted with ~120 ft of cord
*Not kayak friendly, I know

I don't enjoy winching up all that lead afterwards on a rod and reel, and especially don't enjoy when the SeaQualizer descender doesn't release

I prefer the SFD and will use it with a metered length of cordage

Seen them in action in Hawaii
Seen em on YouTube fishing in SoCal and another up in Oregon
None in my local waters tho, prolly due to the regs
