Hobie Kayaks / Hobie Turbo Fin Mast Snapped
« on: June 30, 2021, 09:55:51 PM »
Last outing one of the masts snapped on the mirage drive, rendering the fin completely useless.

Has this happened to anyone before? I tried to search around the forums but didn't find much. Adam, does MBK have replacements on hand (I believe non-threaded)?

Replacing the mast seems pretty straight forward, it's getting the small snapped piece out of the drive that seems like it will be a pain in the butt. Anyone have any suggestions? I was thinking of hammering a tap into it and trying to somehow twist it out (even though it is not threaded) Any input is greatly appreciated

Went out to see if any squid were still around. Didn't see much on the fish finder

Drifted frozen squid for some halibut for a few hours, and then switched to rockfishing at the end. Got a couple vermilion and some blues.

When I got back to shore I realized my paddle must have fallen off the kayak at some point. If anyone in the area comes across a black hobie paddle let me know, and we can arrange some donut/beer exhange. Beautiful day to be on the water all in all.

Nice to somewhat meet everyone! I've lived/fished in Pacifica for the past few years and I am now back home in Monterey.

Looking forward to the very high quality content of these forums :smt003
