General Fishing Tips / Santa Barbara from the beach?
« on: June 07, 2021, 08:45:30 AM »
Will be in SB next week for a few days, won't be able to bring the yak but wondered if it's worth while to bring some gear and fish from the beach? Anyone have experience?

Thanks!

General Talk / Just legal But -- how much meat

Have caught a few 22 and 23 inch halibuts recently. I let them all go bc it seems like they would make for some pretty small/thin fillets. Am I wrong, is there enough there?

General Talk / FS Jackson Cuda 14 REDUCED -- SOLD
« on: June 08, 2020, 04:30:52 PM »
Don't really want to sell it, but the boss says it's time.

Low mileage, washed after every trip, always stored protected from sun and elements, bottom is in great shape, no leaks around hatch covers etc. No holes drilled in the hull other than to add an anchor trolly.

Super clean inside and out. No issues other than it's time to replace some of the bungie cord, and the paint on the seat frame has started to wear away.

Package includes:

kayak
Lawn chair seat
Paddle
Lowrance Mark 4 w/ thru-hull transducer (pretty sure it works but didn't have a battery to test it)
Malone cart
DIY foam roller contraption to make solo loading and unloading easy

General Talk / Wheeleez cart wheels on Hobie trax 2-30 frame??
« on: September 03, 2019, 01:48:19 PM »
I own a wheeleez kayak cart with 30cm wheels. Wondering if I can take those wheels and put them on a Hobie trax 2-30 frame?

Are the axle's the same diameter? If not, is there a workaround?

Hi All,

Anyone have a gently used outback or Revo they want to unload??

Would also consider a Compass if set up with a 180 drive.

Anyone? Bueller??

For Sale / Jackson Cuda 14 What's it worth?
« on: July 20, 2019, 04:18:36 PM »
Hey-

Thinking about selling my Jackson Cuda 14 (I believe it's a 2011). But I have no clue what it's worth?

It's been rinsed well after each outing, always stored under cover, used but never abused.

The lawn chair is super comfortable (paint a little chipped). Has tons of storage. Is fish finder ready (thru hull).

$500??  More/less??

Curious what anyone else thinks.

General Talk / Diawa drag issue
« on: April 19, 2019, 02:31:32 PM »
Hey All,

I have a Diawa Costal TWS reel that is only about a year old. I was just messing around with it and discovered there's an issue with the drag. If I tighten the drag down it engages, but when I go to loosen it has less drag but not that much less even if I back the star knob all the way off. Then if I push the release/casting lever and then reel/engage it again, the drag is all the way off as it should be.

Any thoughts as to what's up? I'm hesitant to pull the thing apart but I guess I will if I have to...

Thanks.

General Fishing Tips / Which new reel??
« on: November 18, 2017, 11:33:59 AM »
In the market for a new baitcaster to use in the salt.

Was considering these two: Diawa Costal TWS  Diawa Lexa 300HD

Anyone have any experience/opinions on them? Any other options I should consider in the $180 range?

Thanks!

General Talk / VHF in baja?

Headed to the East Cape tomorrow for a week and will be doing a good amount of fishing from a yak.  Thinking it'd be worthwhile to bring my vhf on the trip, to be used just in case of emergency.  Wondered if others have done this?
