Thanks PISCEAN. Great report. I gotta get a kayak so I can get out there. Do you ever see people fishing from the rocks at NB? I've always thought about giving it a try but haven't made it over there with my gear yet.
Thanks, TL 1715

what's what that bluish color? Didn't you hear about that nuclear submarine that sank in the Monterey Bay back in the 80's? We've had blue ling cod ever since... 1720
Hookups and Fishing Reports (Viewable by Public) / 6/16/07 Fathers Day Outing (Non-Yak)« on: June 22, 2007, 09:39:28 AM »
Sorry for the non yak report but I just wanted to share this with you guys.
I took the old man out for a trip on the ocean last Saturday. We rented a boat off the SC Wharf. Showed up at 6am and got our boat in the water ASAP. It was overcast with swell in the 5-6ft range. The winds were light in the morning but picked up around 11am. We started off fishing at the mile buoy but didn't get so much as a bite. We then moved north and started catching fish right away. Dad was the first to put a fish in the boat. He got a small rock fish. He then proceeded to put a few more in the boat. Sorry no pics of Dad's fish. I got a small ling, about 21" or so that I tossed back. I then hooked this just barely legal ling. He went 24.2". He was puking up an octopus when I hauled him in the boat Then I got what felt like a pretty good tug on my line. I set the hook and this guy battled me for a good 4 minutes My limit for the day 10lbs My biggest ling so far We got off the water at noon. All in all it was a great day on the water with my Father. He brought home 4 rock fish. 2 legal lings and 1 small rock for me. Fish tacos for Fathers Day!!!! TL 1721
For Sale / Re: Personalized Floating Gaffs« on: June 07, 2007, 03:43:46 PM »
Has any tried using these gafs as a fish whacker? Just curious about the weight. Are they heavy enough towards the pokey end? I'm stocking up on gear right now for my first kayak and want to make sure it is multi-functional.
Thanks, Titelinez 1722

I've got to give up a big THANK YOU to Allen for taking us out on Saturday. That was my fist time kayak fishing in the ocean and I must say that I had a blast.
Allen, I even talked the wife into letting me save up for a used kayak!!!! I'm soooo stoked. When I told her how much fun I had (coming home with fish didn't hurt either, thanks Allen) and that it was something I really wanted to do she didn't even blink an eye and said I should get one I got a keeper for sure!! When I get my kayak I'm gonna have to change my work schedule a little so I can go fishing in the morning a couple days a week -deva |
