Outback load assist

(1/1)

mmckee:
I sold my AI (tired of the limits trailering) and bought a 2023 Outback, but seems the years finally caught up with me,,, When I bought it I thought the hobie load assist was the answer for me, but I found out it didn't work for me. I still needed help loading it into my truck. My fishing buddy had the answer, he made one with wheels that attached to the lift handle (like the hobie loader). It works great.

pasha:
Cool solution!!

Bushy:
how does it work?  I'm probly goind to sell the OLD P/U truck and may have to go upstairs and the rack on my NEW pickup truck.  Yaks are heavier and I am sadly weaker and more prone to pain for a week or so...

mmckee:
I lift the bow onto the tail gate, pull it in until it rests on the transducer cut out, so it doesn't roll back, then lift the stern and push it the rest of the way in.
I don't have the strength to put the bow on the tail gate then lift the whole kayak up and push it into the truck, guess my body is older than I think it is.

The grey loader just keeps your kayak off the rudder when you lift it high enough to car top.

If you want that hobie loader, grey thing, you can have it, I'll never use it.
