Shark Shield Freedom 7

Shark Shield is a unique shark deterrent system utilising a technologically advanced three dimensional electrical wave form. Shark Shield technology is available for recreational users and water sports professionals to help all people enjoy the water with a new dimension ? peace of mind; for themselves, their families and employees. Shark Shield was invented by the South African Government through the Natal Shark Board, home to some of the sharkiest waters in the world. It is used by the Australian Elite Military, the South African Navy the US Coast Guard and is also approved by NATO. Shark Shield's can be used when participating in any ocean activities including surfing, bodyboarding, longboarding, snorkelling, scuba diving, free diving, spear fishing, commercial diving, kayaking, ocean swimming and boating or fishing. Shark Shield's provide protection against all predatory shark species including Great Whites, Tigers, Zambezis (Bulls), Makos, Bronze Whalers, among others. Our shark repellent products repel the sharks via an electric field that induces spasms in the sharks? snouts. It does not attract sharks to the area or leave permanent damage to the animals, or harm the environment. Our products are proven to prevent shark attacks. The Shark Shield FREEDOM7 is a compact, versatile and light weight personal shark deterrent system. It is the preferred product for free divers and scuba divers. It's designed for all water sports. Comes with one rechargable lithium-ion battery. Seven hour run time. Visible and audible low battery alert. Light weight tough polycarbonate case. Soft pouch carrier worn on ankle.

...and sharktober, don't forget about sharktober!

My own personal method of muttering "holy sh*t" over and over while drifting into shallow water has also proved effective (although I've only used it once)

The best way to avoid sharks is to NOT fish near or with Sean.....or in a red yak! :smt044

I used to ab dive there...  Went diving solo at Ano Nuevo back in the early 90's, but it did feel a little spooky.

As for Red Triangle, we have our share of whitey's up this way along the Humboldt Coast.

I'm not opposed to Shark Shields, but I'm leary of relying on a piece of equipment that could fail due to use, abuse, maintenance, batteries, or even the possibility that it may not always work.  I'm pretty content with my X-Factor and a couple dozen pool noodles along with my other safety gear.

Let's just hope that when I do finally have an encounter that I get it on video and there's no bloodshed.   :smt003

I have made no secret of my feelings...  I would not change my fishing habits if I didn't own a SS, and doubt it would deter all sharks all the time...

However, let's say when I fish a place on a weekly basis, weather permitting, June-Oct, where there have been numerous confirmed sightings and one confirmed attack on a yak...  I'll take all the insurance I can get, and wouldn't knock anyone's method of feeling better about the situation, be it prayer, paint schemes, voodoo rituals, denial, electronic devices or sheer balls.

That's all any of us can hope for, Brother!!! :smt001
