A couple summers ago, myself and a few friends did a 5 day paddle and camp trip down the Napali coast on rented scupper pros. I was super-impressed with how well the boats handled surf and sea while loaded to the gills with gear. My only beef was not enough leg room with rudder controls. Since then, I have heard that Swell watercraft has worked with the original designer of the scupper-pro to make a new and improved version called the Scupper 14. I went to their website and the boat looks pretty bad-ass. According to the Swell watercraft site, the only place to try one is a place in FT.Bragg that does tours and classes but doesn't sell boats. I sent them an e-mail but haven't heard back yet. Has anyone heard anything about anyone carrying these boats in Nor-cal?

I got one of those from Liquid Fusion last year. Great kayak and it is serving me very well. Fast and stable even in rough water.

Did you end up getting one?
