Fishing Pics / fishing tattoos
« on: February 12, 2018, 12:00:32 PM »
As a life long angler , I’ve always wanted a fishing tattoo. My artist in the city is currently working on a sketch for me , I’m think something traditional with a “one more cast” or “ one last cast “ banner. So , I thought I’d would be a fun thread for anyone to post pics of their fishing tats they , or anyone they know , have. Let’s go !!

I usually put 20 pots on my yak. Without wearing a pfd too so my yak is lighter. I can also bench 600 lbs. and fly. And I can breathe underwater . Just sayin.  :smt002 :smt002

In Florida they fish for them w cane poles and corn as bait in the rivers. Mostly off docks. I caught one once on a nightcrawler / canepole fishing for bluegill in the Santa Fe river. But mostly we would cast net them and use them for bait for snook and tarpon.

Went there twice last year. Best fish is on the south side , by the island , and that cove. Threw nothing but rattletrap for big smallish , lmb and one big crappie. Good action there. Had a huge stripper try to eat a 1.5 lb smallie right under my kayak.

Only cost like 5,000$ to buy.  We all got that in our back pocket right?

Tried my luck with a buddy today at ocean beach. Fished two hours before and after high tide at 1430.  I threw Carolina rigged grubs, mussels and sand crabs and didn't get a single bite in 4+ hours.  Anyone else having more luck fishing the surf?  People watching was fun but a fish would have been more fun...

Ocean beach is very challenging. I've perched there a few times only caught one 12 " striper. Try Muir or Stinson instead. There are big stripers that make runs there , but it seems you have to be in a special fraternity to catch them.

Hey Dave? I went there yesterday on my PB. Looking for Crappie. Couldn't find any . Bass bite picked up in the afternoon up the warm springs area by fallen trees etc..landed 6 or smallies , lmb's and 3 nice bluegill. all on rattletraps and worms.  went all the way up cherry and yorty creek with no success. where are the crappie?

Legal but unnecessary. I'll out fish you w 12" plastic worm or scampi any day for lings and cabbies.

Went to try Del Valle and both my buddy and I failed the inspection. The ranger, who was a nice enough guy, really gave the inside of our boats the white glove test. I've never had to open my hatches before at any east bay lake, just an outside hull inspection.

My friend had a tiny amount of sand on the inside of his boat maybe a teaspoon. This was actually left over after he washed and drained it. Apparently, the sand didn't make it out of his drain hole. There was zero standing water in his boat, but there was a little surface moisture.

I failed when he pulled out the foam inserts in my Hobie Outback and said there was moisture trapped between the hull and the foam. Apparently, this is protocol now.

Needless to say I was steamed, but we packed up, got our refunds at the gate and skipped over to Lafayette. Same open hatch inspection there, but they didn't pull out my foam inserts and we both easily passed. We made sure to give a quick wipe to the inside of the hulls with a spare t-shirt.

Anyway, the fishing was slow (hot and sunny) but I managed to pull a nice bass out of the weeds with a baby bass swimbait. Had some 4-6lb lunkers follow my bait but they were pretty shy. At least I got to work on my farmer's tan!
Yea that guy at Del Valle is an asshole. Been through the ringer w him. He spent about 30 min fingering my kayak.

General Fishing Tips / Re: Russian River - Fourth of July week
« on: March 15, 2016, 09:55:53 PM »
Thanks guys , everyone is right on this one. I own a house in forestville so I'm up every week. I've caught  smallies on senkos as well . Mostly w a split shot. There are about 6 or so good spots between stumptown Brewery and korbel hole I mostly concentrate in in my area. Most of the docks produce , uas well as the rocky slab areas around monkey island. Old concrete boulders from years ago underwater.  I had a 4# smallie chase lure all the way to the boat and turn away there. Biggest one I've seen personally in the Russian. Should be good this summer w the sun we received... Hope this helps.
