Craftsmen's Corner / DIY Swimbait

I have been planning on doing this project for a while and I finally had the time to mess around with making my own swimbaits. I tried at first making the mold out of plaster of Paris but I had a hard time pulling out the plastic baits. Finally went to Tap plastic to get some silicone mold and re-did the whole thing. Got my plastisol and coloring from lure craft Here is the experimental results

General Talk / Downtime Begins!

I was not able to take advantage of the weather opening these couple of days so my 2015 gear prep begins.

Got a new Dexter 6" boning knife for $10 from Cash and Carry Warehouse. Got a new Japan made 240/1000 grit ceramic stone for $40 from Tokyo Fish Market. Got all my fish knives and household stuff and gave the hand a light workout.

Got to move my fishing gear projects and other stuff out of the dining room table an into the garage. Hit Home Depot for some lumber for a 8' x 24" workbench. So here it go!

Saw Chucke's post a couple months ago about deep frying fish skin and gave it a try myself. Saved the skin from two good size Lings from last week's LS outing. Saved and cleaned the guts also and chopped in pieces.

Saw a couple of pepper plants from a customer last year and I figured I'll give it a try of growing my own. Asked for a couple of varieties to dry over last year winter and planted from seeds this year. Here is the result.

I have some "Navy Chairs" that need some welding of joints and cracks. Anyone out there good with aluminum weld or know someone that can do it.

Recipes / Fermented fish n rice Part 1&2(pg3)

BURONG ISDA

Ingredients:
1 Rockfish
Cooked rice
Salt
Tupperware
...............................................
Fillet fish.....(leave skin on)
Cut into pieces
Generously salt all sides of fillets
Put a layer of rice in Tupperware
Then layer rice/ fish/rice/fish/rice..etc
Seal tight with lid and place inside ziplock for additional sealing.
Leave under sink for 2 weeks and ferment...occasionally pressing every 4 days.
..................cooking in Part 2 ....two weeks from now(2/20)'.........
