Kayak Sailing / Crossbar Mounts
« on: November 12, 2016, 04:05:58 PM »
Hi Guys and gals I have a question for all the Hobie AI owners. For those of you that don’t know, I make the rod holder mounts for the AI’s PatR Mounts,  and for those of you that have purchased my mounts Thank you for your support.    Recently I have had a couple of people want to mount single rod mounts to the front crossbar, not something I would won’t but was wondering if there was others that had thoughts of putting mounts on there front crossbars. As of yet I do not make singles mounts for the crossbars on AI’s from 2011 to 2017 was wondering if it would be worthwhile to do so.  Thanks for your thoughts :smt006.

Kayak Sailing / Revo Hobie furling system fine tuned
« on: March 27, 2014, 12:34:43 PM »
I think I have finished my fine tuning of my wife's Revo furling system. as for the mast goies  I did some searching on the Hobie site and found a guy that changed the bottom insert to a dome one to help spin the mast less friction. Well I could not find a dome insert in the bay area and did not want to order one online for .50 cents and 7.50 for shipping :smt013. So I came up with what you see in the pics it seems to work quite well. now to the furling system I replaced the SS ring with a block and lengthen the line that operates the furler from 8 feet to 10 feet to give it more travel. everything works quite well vary happy with it hope it helps check out the pics.

Kayak Sailing / Introduced Hobie / Sailing to Brother
« on: March 25, 2014, 12:18:38 PM »
My Brother and I went to Berryessa yesterday for a little Trout trolling , this was my Brothers first time in a Hobie and the first time sailing, thought I would give him a double whammy. We where on the water for about 7 hours, light winds just enough to push you at trout trolling speed. My Brother was at ease in the first 30 minuets on the water with the Hobie and sailing he keep saying this is the only way to go :smt003. We had a great time but no fish :smt010 maybe next time.

Kayak Sailing / Revo Test Sail
« on: March 18, 2014, 08:15:25 PM »
Went to Berryessa today to test my wife's Revo in sail mode, pretty windy and rough so I stayed out of the main part of the lake. well it is not an AI but I don't think the Revo gets the credit it deserves pretty fun. The Hobie Sidekick worked better then I had expected I thought they might be to small not so, the new Hobie furling system works but needs some fine tuning. I like the cut of the sail it does not knock your hat off like my AI does  :smt003. So all in all pretty happy with the rigging.

Kayak Sailing / Main Sheet Line
« on: March 15, 2014, 01:27:15 PM »
Hi guys I have a question about the main sheet line. I am rigging the main sheet line for my wife's Revo. On our AIs the main sheet has a block attached the sail as you see in pic 1 what benefit does it have to rig it that way or just tie it direct to the sail like pic 2. Or am I over thinking it, I keep thinking less is better and less line to bug my wife :smt013 a happy wife is a great day on the water :smt003.

Kayak Sailing / My Wife's (Minnie Me)
« on: March 13, 2014, 02:20:54 PM »
Just about done with my wife's Minnie Me tried to set it up like my AI. I got some good deals on the site for the sail and Amas thanks guys. I bought the new Hobie furled kit and it installed very nicely, I rigged the sail line just like our AIs trying to keep it simple, so far so good. Now for the hard part teaching my wife how to sail…….  little at a time :smt008. hears some pic for you, her sail and Revo matches mine wasn't planning on that it just happened  :smt044.
