General Talk / Prius and hills
« on: June 13, 2022, 09:26:55 AM »
Hey gang, I'm considering getting a good used Prius. Question is, I have a very steep gravel driveway and am worried a Prius won't make it up the hill. Any advice?

Informative report! I've yet to try that.

They might be gone. Last time I fished there was 20 years ago!

3 Trees is roughly halfway between Santa Cruz and Davenport. You can actually see 3 trees on shore. It's a mile or so from land.

General Talk / Damn noisy frogs!
« on: March 18, 2022, 12:14:20 PM »
I've got a pond about the size of a large swimming pool. Deepest point is 12'. The frogs at night are incredibly loud and I want to quiet them. Disturbing the water, (throwing firewood into the pond), quiets them, but you can see there problem with that. I've yet to try coffee grounds around the perimeter. I hear that the coffee irritates their skin, thus making them vamoose.
I don't want to kill them off.
Any ideas? Please?

I want to add, if you touch the fish, do it with wet hands. Also, don't use a towel to grip the fish.

Damn! Looks fun, and I like to have fun.

Hey Tote, is that your camo bike? If so, what brand, and do you like it?

I now make sure to keep my in-hull rod holders closed off. Mice crawl in and can't get out until you find their horrible remains on the butt end of the rod you just pulled out to use. Lesson learned.

General Talk / truck racks
« on: July 09, 2021, 09:40:53 AM »
Hey, I'm thinking of some Thule, or Yakima towers and crossbars for my Tacoma. Any suggestions, and or experience?
I've been browsing some on the 'net and there's a lot of choices. I liked the Yakimas I saw, but was surprised by the $800 price tag. Cheaper choices seemed to have poorer reviews.
I won't be using them for my yak, rather for smaller stuff and maybe attaching things to while truck camping.
Thanks.

Last couple of days have been hellacious on the big blue. Gales and such. Not a good weather window to launch into.
