May or may not be something you want to buy used but if you've had yours stolen, maybe this is it?

Hookups and Fishing Reports (Viewable by Public) / Amador: Wed. 12/21
« on: December 18, 2011, 09:36:45 PM »
Will be heading to Amador on Wednesday, December 21st, at 0-dark-30 trying to launch by 6am and fishing all damn day!  Barefoot1/Jeff Smith will be joining me.  Chasing trout and if it's as hot as some say, maybe target bass after a trout limit.  :smt044

Company welcome and of course VHF on Ch. 69!

Decided against last Saturday but barring hell or high WINDS/water, myself and barefoot1 will be at DV this Saturday.  Plan on being there when the gates open because I have to be off the water by 2 PM.

Will be chasing trout at the onset and may switch over to stripers depending progress and conditions.

While I've done a little research, I haven't been there for a year so any insights are welcome.

Company welcome, will have VHFs.

Somehow got the clearance to hit the water tomorrow.  Certainly not ideal on a holiday weekend but I'll take it.  Don't know where I'm going, but willing to travel a little.  Possibilities include Del Valle, Comanche, Melones, or ???

A pioneer in his early years and a curmudgeon at the end when the game had passed him by.  I know many Raider fans will be happy but it is surely a sad day in football.

For Sale / Unloading Gear - Part Deux
« on: July 20, 2011, 01:48:38 PM »
Having downsized the living quarters means I have to downsize the quantity of gear.  :smt010

For what it's worth, I'll be at Albion and can bring stuff with me as long as I have enough room!

The following is what I have for sale:

Abu Garcia Revo Toro 50 HS - $200 Firm
I purchased this High Speed reel brand new from eBay for $200 plus shipping and just looking to recoup for the reel.  Never been used with all parts included.  You can currently find the regular Toro 50 for cheaper on eBay but for some reason the High Speed sells for more on eBay.  This reel brand new is $270.  I know, not a steal, but a decent deal.

Ax - Best Offer  SPOKEN FOR
I know nothing about them but I do know that it probably needs a little work.  This was my step-father's and when he moved out, it was left behind.  For all I know, it may not be worth anything.

Hatchet - Best Offer  SPOKEN FOR
See description of Ax!

Coleman Ice Chest - $10 OBO  SOLD
It's in very good condition.  We just have too many.

Eagle Claw Pack Rod - $10  SALE PENDING
Won this but haven't used it and it's just taking up space.  Maybe somebody else can put it to good use! Never used!

Shakespeare UL trout trolling rod - $5  SOLD
Used and landed many fish!  It come with a bonus matching top half.  Don't ask.  Actually, I had two of the same rod and broke the bottom of the other and was obviously left with an extra top piece.

6' Medium Ugly Stik with Quantum reel - $10  SOLD
Used and landed a fair amount of fish.  Very versatile rod that can be used for many different applications.

Orvis Battenkill Bar Stock II (for line weights 3-5) - $30 OBO  SOLD
This comes with Orvis' Wonderline floating line that probably needs to be cleaned.  I've used this real fewer than 10 times and has only a couple scuff marks.  I had it on a 7'  3 weight rod for stream trout and it was a blast.

Orvis Battenkill Bar Stock III (for line weights 5-7) - $50  SOLD
This setup has never been used.  It comes with Orvis' Wonderline floating line.  The reel and line together cost almost $200 brand new.

Abu Garcia Jacket (Large) - $10 OBO
Got it for $10 a year or so ago when I purchased a Revo SX for bass.

Also have 2 aluminum crutches for FREE is people are still looking to fashion do-it-yourself mast insert FF brackets.
They've been put in the recycle.

PM or reply to this thread if interested in any items.

Looking to get rid of a few things.  Probably would have been smart to post this stuff prior to GS5, but I never got around to it.

First up:

Okuma Baidarka & Abu Garcia Revo Inshore - $160
I'd prefer to sell it as a combo but if there aren't any takers, I'll split it up.  This set-up has been used less than a dozen times, and the 2 most recent trips I was throwing swimbaits with it at Clear Lake.  I also had Alan Tani upgrade the drag.  I've got the bigger crank handle too.  It was originally spooled with powerpro but after getting spooled by a sea lion, I never replaced it so the it's just mono on the reel now.

So barefoot1/Jeff and I are taking Wednesday, 2/23, and Thursday, 2/24 and heading up to the foothills and will be fishing two of the lakes, we just don't know which ones yet.  If you're interested in joining or have any input, let it fly.

The big fish of Amador are tempting but based on all of the reports, it is a fickle lake and we want to catch fish.  Comanche produces fish but even it lately has been slow recently.  As it's been discussed, Pardee just opened and there are loads of fish to catch, but most of these are of the small variety.  Ultimately we'll post up before we leave.

We'll be staying at Comanche but don't exactly know if we'll be tent camping or getting a room.  Ultimately the weather will decide for us as we don't want to be miserable in the rain.

Company welcome; Ch. 69!

Had planned on fishing the Sac Port with barefoot1/Jeff this Sunday but the 2.5 hour drive with increased flows bringing the water level up 6 ft. has us  putting that trip off for another day.

Instead, we'll be hitting DV rain or shine and plan arriving between 7-8.  I'd like to be able to add another species to my AOTY count but not exactly sure what our plan of attack is.  We'll probably head towards the dam and then maybe back towards the marina to bait fish if all else fails.

Company welcome and we'll have the radios tuned to ch. 69.  Plan on getting wet!  :toothy2:

General Talk / Holiday House Decorating
« on: December 10, 2010, 02:32:32 AM »
Every year my neighbors decorate their houses with beautiful lights and other adornments.  And, you guessed it, every year I have to listen to my wife say, "let's decorate like them!"

In order to facilitate more fishing trips for the upcoming year, I have taken advantage of my neighbors hospitality and decorated my house this year.  What do you think of it?

Oh, and, I live on the right.

Fish Talk / Fish-slapped: Kayak Racer Takes Carp to Face

It didn't happen to me, but rather some poor dude on the Mississippi.  Glad he wasn't seriously hurt.

Read it here.

My father-in-law approached me a few months back and said he wanted to kayak fish on Father's Day and told me to make it happen.  Wanting to go big, I decided to make a weekend of it at Lake Mendocino however after finding out that 3 kayaks for 2 days would cost more than $500, we decided to keep it simple.

So instead we'll be at Del Valle this Sunday, 6/20.  I'll be with a fairly good sized flotilla, including my father, father-in-law, father-in-law's brother, brother-in-law, boss, and buddy.  Sadly, my father and buddy will be in a skiff but the other 5 of us will be on yaks.

Come join us if you like; we'll either be targeting trout or stripers.   I'll be waiting in line when the gates open at 6 a.m. and a couple of us will have radios tuned to ch. 69.
