Hi,
I took my son trolling for trout from 10 to 1.  We caught five using rapala-brown trout pattern.  The last fish was a 10lber.

The key was 4lb line and a little breeze came up.

Wow that’s quite a fish. EBRPD does plant some monster size fish in their lakes. I’ve been to Shadow Cliffs four times in the last month and half. Usually troll for about four hours, and if I haven’t caught any I switch to power bait, and have done well. Only 2 fish trolling over that timeframe.

I almost always troll a J-7 Firetiger on one rod and switch out the other rod every 30 minutes or so. I will be there at least one of the days next weekend. Thanks for the report.

We tried firetiger also-nothing.

The smaller jointed brown trout (j5?) or natural caught most of fish including the big one.

Once there was a little breeze on the water the bite started.

The bait guys in boats were doing well also

Dang, that's a beast! Nice work!

I need to get out there for trout - still haven't learned how to catch trout in a lake, haha.

I've had some luck drifting with powerbait. Do you guys usually anchor when you're using bait?

We saw one boat who was bait fishing and doing well.  They were anchored.  These guys knew where to anchor and do well.

Other boats bait fishing maybe did ok.
