I purchased it last year. So far, I am very happy with it. I purchased the pedal adapter and use it mostly to get back after a day and when I’m feeling lazy. I like that it weighs only ten pounds with the battery and it plug and play. Hate the price. Lol

I had my budget director read this post to authorize the purchase of my first drysuit,...a new Kokatat Supernova Angler Semi-Dry (neoprene collar) is on it’s way to the house now. Gonna take a minute to pay it off,...but I’ll take those minutes.

I have several solo multi-day camp’n’fish’chill weekends planned for the year up in the mountains. Feels silly at first having a buncha self rescue gear (rescue step, paddle float, throw rope, bilge pump, large first aid kit), but reading stories like this, as well as others on this site and across the internet,...a lot can go wrong real quick. Scare myself quite often thinking back on the crazy risks I took. I like to think it won’t happen to me, and I don’t live everyday thinking it will. But at the very least I’ll be prepared with the tools for myself, or another who might need em.

Thanks again, for the post, all of the reminders, and for this community.

I have one. Going on three years. Great suit. Wash it every time with fresh water and it will last a long time. Except for some fish blood stains, mine is just like I bought it. I got the one made out of Gortex so I stay cool even in the heat.

Anyone interested in doing some rockfishing tomorrow?

Red AI, channel 69. :)

This is also my plan on Saturday. I plan on being there around 6:00. picking up my salmon limit by 10:00  :smt001 and then hitting the rock fish. I'll be on 69 in a camo outback.

I like your confidence, have you caught salmon at timber before? I'm sure it's been done, and salmon lings and RF @ TC would be an impressive stringer.

I have not. hahah I normally go to Ocean Cove. I have been hearing some rumors though.....

Hobie Kayaks / Re: Hobie 2020 mirage pro angler choice

I agree with the points made by others regarding speed and Eric's comment about drive failure, etc, but for me, i'll gladly trade the speed for stability.  I prefer to stand up while I fish, including in the ocean.  The PA 14 allows me to stand in all but the most pukey conditions and sling the swimbait far.  Also easier to gaff fish while standing.  It's all personal preference, so if you can get out and try them all, that's all the better.  Happy to let you give my PA 14 a try if our paths align in the coming months...

Norm

Thanks for the offer Norm. We should meet up sometime. I also live in Windsor and hit the coast a couple times a month.
In going out this Wednesday to do a demo on both.

Thanks for the information guys. That’s why I love this site.
I’m going to demo both on Wednesday but sounds like the Outback is the way to go.
And no Eric, I have not gotten Covid big yet. Lol
And nice salmon! I need to have you hook me up to one soon. Maybe after the purchase.

So I have the itch to jump on the Hobie train. I currently have the Ocean Kayak Big Game. Nice yak but want to get a pedal.
For those who own or have tried both, the Hobie 12and 14, what would be your choice for mainly open ocean ? Is it stable enough for rough conditions? Is it that much slower?
Pros-cons
Thanks for the input.

I purchased the Gortex a couple years ago. What I like about it is it's breathable and thus you will not sweat in it on hot days and the relief zipper is a game changer.
