General Talk / Re: Bixby Motor: Where to mount and store it all?

Using a rudder mount  allows you to use both the peddle and motor at the same time.  Works great for bottom bouncing for halibut.

You might want to use a bait that looks like a baby octopus, like a small tub bait.  It taste better.

I took my 16' skiff up to Wilder this morning and trolling back into the south swell I felt like was sitting still and I keep checking my fish finder to make sure I wasn't go backwards.

I have a raptor G2 with a rudder mount Bixpy and still use the mirage drive at the same time when needed.  It's great for hali bounce ball fishing, the lowest setting for my kayak is .9 to 1.2 mph.  When weight bounces, a peddle or two gets you up to speed.

You just have to pick the right wind and wave predictions, Windy .com  I been out a few times in Santa Cruz.   It's a rare day when the ocean lays down in the afternoon but it does happen.

I have a rudder mounted Bixby Jet, it allows you to use your mirage drive for a boost of power while bounce balling for halibut.  I bought mine through a pre production sale three years ago for $100 off.  You can troll all day and only use less than half the battery power and still power up for the ride home.

What flavor of Hobie do you have? I'm tempted to add this to my AI. I can usually get by just with sail and legs, but once in a while, it would be nice to have that little something extra...

I have your old G2 Raptor

It's the same battery it came with.  I used it a couple of times per week and it seems to be holding up fine the replacement cost for a new battery is $500.00 I think it has a five year life

I can't tell if the floats are adjustable but they should be above the water line so not to increase drag.

I went out yesterday and turn on the radio and the conversing was in Chinese I asked them to speak English and they did.  I felt bad for being so rude while listing to them struggle to speak English.  If you are a NCKA member and your reading this post I apologize.

Try buying a fish finder or any fishing gear.  I'm sending my dragenfly back back for repair for the third time instead of replacing it.  Just about every unit I looked at was back ordered.  I sent my shark shield in for a simple repair three month ago.  Come to find out they don't repair units only replace if under warranty, they were back order for three months and just received a new unit Friday

, hope you can avoid having to service it.

Getting the unit serviced is a problem.  Ocean Guardian has yet to respond to e mail or phone messages.  One of the prongs became loose enough and backing nut fall off along with the wire.  It seems like a simple fix  if I could access the insides.  I may have craft a special tool to remove the access nuts.  If O.G. ever responds they have reconditioned units for sale for $275. It would be nice to have a back up unit.
