Albion is one I can think of. Pillar Point and Doran both have launch ramps but Iíve never heard anything good about the rockfish fishing there. Any suggestions?

I just finished setting up a Wilderness Radar 115 electric kayak for my wife. I took it out on a shakedown cruise up at Lake Berryessa. My son was in my electric Radar 135. We launched at Putah Creek Campground around 8:30. It was windier than the forecast predicted so we headed over to Pope Creek to get some calmer water. We didnít have any luck toplining cast masters in so we decided to try our new Cal Kellog version of a hybrid leadcore setup. I let out the 50ft of top shot, all three colors of leadcore and another 100 ft of braid and trolled out and turned towards Putah Creek. According to Cal I was down to 30-35 feet. I hooked a fish and netted a small bass. When we trolled into Putah Creek I hooked another fish on a Kokanee lure but lost it at the net. Guessing from the spots it was a small spotted bass. I donít know how it stayed on that long though as neither piece of corn was even dented. I am really happy with both of my Wilderness Radar kayaks. I think I will limit my summertime trips to the waterski lakes. Iím just not into what passes for music these days being blasted by the kids. It was $15 for the day use fee and the gate isnít locked so you can enter as early as you want to fish. Iíll be back up there this fall.

Gearing Up and Rigging Up / Garmen lakevu G3 maps question
« on: April 07, 2021, 07:01:28 PM »
Does anyone own this map. The photo on the website seems to show a coverage area that extends into the ocean. My old navionics maps cover lakes and near shore ocean. Everything Iíve read about the lakevu does not mention anything but lakes. So is the image showing ocean coverage accurate? Thanks.

Safety First / Bilge pump failure
« on: January 02, 2021, 11:50:43 PM »
I was getting my kayak ready and needed to empty a little water that had collected in it. I picked up a bilge pump that had been laying around unused a while and it didnít work at all. I assume the seals have dried out or something. I sure would hate to have discovered this problem when I needed it on the water.

General Fishing Tips / Cal Kellogg's hybrid leadcore trolling setup
« on: December 30, 2020, 11:32:38 AM »
I have watched Cal extoll the virtues of his trolling methods. He mostly fishes from a kayak and he claims it works well. It looks easier than using a down rigger. I think it would be easier at the least for my wife to fish for trout with me. Anyone use this or a similar setup? Pros or cons, tips etc.

I want to take a 7 year old out on 9-5 for his first time fishing. Anyone know a good bank location that has a good chance of catching fish? Someplace close enough to Vacaville. Thanks
