General Talk / Re: Lowrance eagle 9 live problem
« on: April 16, 2025, 02:40:17 PM »
I have no experience with any newer model lowrance units, and my old ones worked well.

I have seen electrical issues manifest themselves as a malfunctioning fishfinder. I recently discovered that my nocqua battery had gone bad when my FF stopped reading bottom or kept giving my bad readings. I would start by trying a different electrical source if you haven’t already, just to rule that out first.
yup. this is a common cause. Battery check, live units use POWER! LIPO 30 to 50 amp hr will keep it going all weekend

I've pretty much gone freshy, odds are never have a problem but after 2 kayak drive bys and other boat based encounters, no longer worth it to me. can't afford new clothing each time :smt044 they are big, toothy and not predictable. Oh, I also don't ride horses either :smt005 It's all about worth/risk decisions.  :smt001

Is Steele Canyon open for day use? I'm not really interested in more camping since I got BB and GS the following weekends but I could probably show for a day trip. Prime time for trolling for those Berryessa steelhead-like trout.

Yes, day use is allowed. Inspection as you come in. Call them to see when gate opens and when they inspect

wow, if we could figure out how to get it to auburn i'd be all in!!! NCKA express anyone? I'd be willing to front gas money for delivery. Ron 530-786-4180

that aside, if someone is right there and hands you cash... Take it. I've already got 10 kayaks. love those old OC boats though

8
for kayaks there is a no charge inspection as you come in. CLEAN AND ABSOLUTLY DRY, even in the pole holder holes. there will be a lot less boats for sure.

9
crazy people out there. hit your local lakes :smt007 i went to their derby one time only, nope :smt004

10
I got site 17. When you go to get a site, it shows only one taken, mine... share site? Over 2 people per site adds $$$ up to 6 people adds 55.00

11
Hell yeah.

Thanks, fellas. Steele Canyon it is.  :smt006
booking sites or are we individually booking sites. not a group site. I'll reserve mine tonight if your not going to reserve a block. Sites 11-22 are on the water to the left of boat ramp. Right now, None are reserved. $55.00 per night. price goes up if you have more than 2 people per site (45.00!)

Any input on what location has the better fishing this time of year?
Steel canyon is good for all types of fish. crappie and bass all over, trout too. puta creek might be better for trout/kokes and bass. I like steel canyon and in the past, you could be as loud as you want! Called and they have all sorts of open sites. water front sites to the left of the boat ramp are available to book for the 2-4th
