General Fishing Tips / Re: Numb hand
« on: August 14, 2022, 06:22:41 PM »
Hour later and it's mostly gone!  Hum!  Glad I had some Benadryl!

Good to hear, that was my first thought, "a report" on progress that is.

Over the years I've developed a med kit that goes with me besides a first aid kit. I keep liquid benadryl in it cause I figure liquid is quicker.

I see it's already been taken care of, Maybe Coastside would be a good source as well, but I'm not a member anymore.

Could somebody please spread the word to Fresh N Salty? Thanks!

I assume you're not on FB, and anyone there may not be on NCKA, so how would you like to be contacted if I post it up on F&S?

This looks like a re-enactment of a past event to me. Too much forced drama. I think this is between Coopers Landing and Skilak Lake.

Everyone did seem overly calm/recovered pretty quickly, re-enactment or not I was surprised (not surprised) at the dress of the characters.

General Fishing Tips / Re: Big Boats around tiny kayaks.
« on: July 07, 2022, 07:51:13 AM »
I used to have a jet boat, you know the standard 18 ft big block, nothing fancy but it was purty. Now we're talking 1980. Back then I went to Berryessa probably once a week. Being a shift worker I got to go on weekdays, had a blast. Back then because the delta was closer to home I went to Hogback on a weekend.  Crazy, seeing a V drive come completely out of the water and blow the engine when it over rev'ed, along with a myriad of other shit. Long story short I NEVER went back. That was 40 years ago, I can't imagine what it's like now.

Gearing Up and Rigging Up / Re: Wheelez Repair

When I got my cart years ago, they included a little bag with little pieces of tire material in it. I think the proper method was to stick the piece into the hole then melt it over with a soldering iron, I never throw anything away so I'm gonna go look for that little bag, but with all my crap I'm not expecting to find it.

Holy Moly, I found it (them), I bought a cart that came with it, then a set of wheels for a home made cart, so long story short I have 2 little baggies from them. If want, PM your address and I mail one to you.

Wanted To Buy / Re: Transducer for Humminbird 798ci HD?
« on: July 01, 2022, 12:35:33 PM »
I have the original transducer that came with my 788ci. If that'll work you can have it. When I bought the FF I got a scupper mount transducer to go with it and will never use the original.

There's no markings on it but it looks like this one. Brand new still in the wrapper.

Safety First / Re: Stranded Kayaker Rescue in Progress
« on: January 27, 2022, 04:31:05 PM »
10-15 yrs ago when I used to fish out in Suisun Bay solo I contemplated what it would be like to have to spend a night out there on a mud bank. Changed my planning a bit, but never came close.

This is a great case demonstrating the dress for the worse scenario.

General Talk / Re: Weird Leak in kayak - Causes? Suggestion how to fix?
« on: January 24, 2022, 06:21:43 PM »
From a 7 yr old answer on a Q&A forum. Not mine.

""#407-29-2015, 04:28 PM
So I shot an email to 3M regarding 5200 and HDPE. To my amazement someone actually called me. He recommended 3M 4693H for bonding HDPE to fiberglass or metal. Said it was water resistant and would seal like 5200 but is formulated to adhere to slippery plastics like polypropylene and polyethylene. Just thought I would pass that along.""

Put some bright azz led lights inside in a darkish garage if at night and look at the plastic fir thin spots, they should be easy to see.

+1 of course you might not like what you find.

On sealing, the best thing I've found to stick to polyethylene is a product called lexel.
