Launched out of Sherm at 9 and fished within a mile or two of the ramp (on 12/25, better post late than never). Tried swimbaits, jigging for a bit, chicken liver, until 2PM tide switch with no fish. Tide change caused a mini boil in the flats (you could see a small splash/ripple every 15 sec, then a bird from the ~50 seagulls and terns above would dive on it), but it was probably all smalls as I caught a 8incher on a fluke then. It was also very spread out (quarter mile), in 10 ft of water, and flat calm (2mph NE) so it was quite the experience. Fished at the mouth of the flats anchored up for the rest of the time. Boat pulled up about 30 yards away and they instantly started getting fish for 1.5 hrs, at a fish every 10 minutes, while I was getting nothing on swimbaits and liver. I assume they were using live bait or there was structure or preferred habitat there? Anyways, forced my sad striperless soul back to the ramp at sunset. Then the unimaginable happened: clutched a 18 incher on a 3 inch swimbait I left out with 20 ft of line just bc I had it tied on and why not,  trolling max speed at last light by the tules near the launch.
