General Talk / Do NOT use plain white bouy
« on: December 13, 2021, 03:35:12 PM »
Learning from my mistakes (trying to be cheap) I used white pool noodles and Clorox empty jug. We were on a boat 2 weekends ago, we kept missing my traps in spite of having waypoints and marks (there are tons of birds) every time we think it's the one, it flies away from us.  :smt044

General Talk / Venturing Darker Side.

My Good Buddy and I are solid on getting a boat. The only boat I owned back in early 2000 was a Basscat Pantera II which is solid for bass fishing. We both agreed that we want something that can handle Salt and be used for family camping in freshwater. I want to get some input from brothers that are boat aficionados and if anyone has some connections :smt002 Thank you.

What would you recommend? We both like the Triumph but feel a little small. Arima are expensive.

General Talk / Salmon Rod Recommendation
« on: July 26, 2021, 03:50:15 PM »
I went to Shelter over the weekend, I got 4 bites, hookup 2 lost both. No, I am not blaming my gears, It was just excitement and combined with stupidity lost both. The last one that made me quit is got net mishap and one of the hooks got tangled in the net. Snaps when it took another run. Anyway, that's not why I'm posting. I'm looking for the Salmon Rod 8'6" ML. I'm eyeing the Shimano Clarus but I'm deterred because it's 2 pieces. Anybody can recommend similarly but 1 piece?

General Talk / How often do you change you main line?
« on: June 16, 2021, 02:43:09 PM »
Hey Fellas,

Quick questions. How often do you change your mainline (braid)? I've been thinking about what happened to me last Friday. I figured my line is frail. I think its 4yrs old. I was trying to horse a big fish and I know my reel has enough drag. In the end, the line snapped. The same thing happened when I tried to set the hook. Do you change line every season? Im using 40lbs PowerPRO.
