General Fishing Tips / Sacramento River Trolling
« on: September 30, 2021, 11:16:20 AM »
I've spent this week learning about the Sacramento River - Walnut Grove area, Miller Park to Sand Cove Park sections.  Navionics depth charts, tide charts, lures, techniques and all.  I've had this poster on my wall as a kid.  It's been a goal to catch a river salmon for a long time.  35 years later, better late than never.  Tips and suggestions for this noob trying to catch a mudsalmon highly appreciated.  I love going out on weekdays, but I'm not able to anymore.  0'dark hundred is when I like to hit the water, or close to it.  One rod is setup for dragging a kwikfish, another for inline spinners.  One thing I wanted to know, is it safe to anchor off(QRAS with a fluke style anchor) and jig the deep spots.

Places to Launch and Camp / Barge Canal Access/Deep Water Ship Channel
« on: September 13, 2021, 10:52:18 AM »
Hello All,

After a bit of research on Barge Canal Access, I wanted to ask if anyone has brought their PWC, with electric motor through here.  I see the sign(s), and it states "non-motorized boating."  Restricted to any/all motors?  Just wanted to know before packing up the truck and driving up there.

Thanks in advance!

Did a search for "Russian River"
Roamed through the first 3 pages at least.

Looked at launching from Steelhead Beach, then there is some type of dam at Summer Bridge/Vacation Beach Road- how to get across?, ending at Casini Ranch Family Campground.
About 15 miles.  Maybe biting off more than I can chew.
Steelhead Beach to Johnson’s Beach is around 8 miles, and few mentioned websites that rent craft to float along that route.

Just wanted to know how the water flow is at this time of year, and best times to go fishing for smallmouth(will be all catch and release). We will be on pedal kayaks, and wanted to know if anchor poles needed to maintain a position?  Looked at the other options like Alexander Valley Campground , Badger Park and Healdsburg Veterans Memorial Beach.

Looking for an enjoyable time, catching my first smallmouth bass, and abiding by the rules for tackle and lures.  The only other river experience I’ve had is the launching from the Cosumnes River Preserve.

Introductions / Started from the bottom, now we're here... Introduction
« on: September 18, 2020, 10:49:38 AM »
Hello All,

Glad to be here.  After watching MooMoo Outdoors I thought, hey, why not join and check it out!  I've been fishing for almost 2 years now.  I've borrowed many kayaks from my friends, and I finally got my own not too long ago.  A Native Watercraft Titan 12.  I'm primarily a LMB fisherman, but looking into other species to target.  I've only been on the ocean once with my friend.  I go by the same handle on Fishbrain.  I look forward to learning more, and fishing more!
