General Fishing Tips / Re: Bead Management« on: March 27, 2024, 07:52:52 AM »
Thank you everyone for all of the ideas. I looked on Amazon, and they have lots of craft bead storage containers to think about too.

General Fishing Tips / Re: Bead Management« on: March 26, 2024, 02:05:17 PM »Tip: When building lures, I do all my work in a shallow baking sheet. That keeps those pesky little parts from rolling away. I learned this the hard way when my wife stepped on a #4 hook that found its way to the carpet. Good idea, I use shallow baking sheets when servicing reels. The picture I posted was this last weekend when I was re-tying my newly acquired kokanee lures. Looking forward to going out again. 5
CA Regulations / Re: Proposed 2024 Groundfish Regulation Change Summary (3/22/2024)« on: March 26, 2024, 10:20:20 AM »
Regulations were passed by the Commission this morning. After the presentation by Marci Yaremko she said she wanted to thank all of the persons involved with providing input to staff. The first person she recognized was Paul Chang.
Thank you Paul for giving kayak fishermen a voice in the process. And thanks for speaking today to the commission about keeping our petition in their thoughts. 6
General Fishing Tips / Bead Management« on: March 26, 2024, 06:58:50 AM »
I have frustrating trouble with Seps bead containers. No matter how careful I am when I try to close the package the beads go flying everywhere. At this point with new ones I just dump them out to get it over with, and not finding them all makes it easier to close them up.
I was thinking of putting the different sizes into a small sectioned tackle tray but wanted to see if anyone has a great idea for controlling these little beasts. 7

I use magnets to pull stuff around in the hull.

General Fishing Tips / Re: Freshwater Line Choice« on: March 22, 2024, 06:28:34 AM »
I recommend not having line under 10lb test. I think every large trout I have caught in the EBRPD has had broken off hooks some with light line leaders.

Wow what a blast today at Sly Creek. I was ready to head out when Kevin showed up so he pointed out the way to go. Right off the bat I landed a nice brown, and then for awhile I only had a few bites. Eventually Kevin caught up, and I followed him, as he explained that we just needed to keep going until found the Kokanee schools.
Eventually we did, and it was nonstop bites, and lost fish. I ended up with my limit of 5 10-11” and a rainbow by the time headed in. A big thank you to Kevin for showing me the way to my first Kokanee. 11

Also, you may want to start out in freshwater to get comfortable with the layout, and dealing with smaller fish.
