Made this again last night... didn't have enough Kalamata olives, so we used a mix of Castelvetranos and Kalamatas with good results.

Great pic!  Megahflavah’…

That looks good. I've only caught a few sardines at a time in Monterey. Not enough for much of a dish, but I have second-guessed whether I should use them for bait or retain them for eating.

Ever catch any sardines in Pacifica?  I drag a sabiki around almost everytime I go there, and mostly only catch smelt.  Occasionally a mackerel or 'chovy, but haven't figured out the season/reason/why/how.  Are they deeper than other small fish?  Smelt, anchovy, and mackerel seem like they are always in the top 5-10ft or so, or that's where I have the best luck/see them on my FF most.  I'd love to bring home some kind of fish next time I go out for crab!  Always trying for that halibut, but they are ever elusive for me, at least near where I crab anyway.

I caught a sardine in Bodega Bay last weekend! So surprised I didn't ID it correctly until I got home. After I realized what it was I wished I had tried for more, was seeing big schools of baitfish on my fish finder. It was just around the 15 foot deep mark. Caught it in between the jacksmelt I was using for crab bait.
