I just got my first kayak( Tarpon 140)  two weeks ago and stored it on the ground in the garage.
It will deform the hull if it stored that way?

manufacturer recommends storing on its side or upside down.  if it deforms the hull it will likely be temporary anyways.

That is a good kayak. Actually really great paddling kayak. Just store on its side and it will be fine. Mine like that sat on a rack all the time and was never affected.

On it's side is one of the ways to store kayaks that nearly all manufacturer's recommend.  It wouldn't hurt to buy a section of pipe insulation (cheapest), or a 36" foam yoga roller (best), cut it, and rest the kayak on a couple of sections.  Works best if they are spaced about 1/3 the length of the hull apart.
