Recently sold my 12 foot valco. Going to miss her. Some great missions with her out of pebble, Albion and shelter.

I have used small pipe wrenches for bolts that have become striped.

General Fishing Tips / Re: Fishing Albion« on: August 26, 2024, 07:15:35 AM »
It's a beautiful place. Definitely worth the experience. Paddling upriver for a scenic experience is worth it as well. I don't think you will be disappointed.

Gearing Up and Rigging Up / Re: Rigging for rockfish« on: August 06, 2024, 10:21:13 PM »I can tell you I lost the biggest lingcod I have ever hooked while fishing on a black shrimp fly with a tip of squid. I remember a photo of a lingcod caught on an open-ended wrench where a large j hook was attached to it. Sometimes they are not very picky. 10
General Fishing Tips / Re: Can somebody have some tips? Wind..« on: August 06, 2024, 10:13:35 PM »
Definitely a longer sailing rudder. A drift sock can be an easy quick fix but would recommend advice from someone who has used one. I have used them on boats but that is totally different from a kayak. I am sure there are many pros and cons.
I wouldn't advise a skeg if you are doing beach launches. 11
General Talk / Re: Any great salt kayak fishing guides between like Bodega Bay and Big Sur?« on: August 03, 2024, 06:55:30 PM »
If you are experienced with your own kayaks, I would recommend Albion river campground. No guides that i know of but great fishing and scenery. You can paddle up the river for some beautiful scenery as well. I believe they have kayaks for rent but not sure if they are set up for fishing. Good idea to check swell reports for the area.
Is a bit of a drive from your area though. Al 12
General Talk / Re: Fish Descender« on: July 24, 2024, 01:44:38 PM »Thanks for the info. I always bring a second rod. I'll clip a descender on it before I head out. Hope to see ya this year, Al. I have a site at Doran for the crab opener. Hopefully opens on schedule. 13

Yes. It almost seems as officer discretion. Definitely want to speak to senior dfw officer here in Monterey bay. Met him before but forgot to get his card. I knew the previous main officer who has now retired. I know I am butchering his last name. Puchanelli? Very nice guy. Always responded to my questions.
